Has anybody on this site ever had Lymes desease ?
I know whe shouldnt try and self diagnose ourselves but my symptoms are getting worse from red lines on the skin, swollen stomache and thighs to a whoshing sound in head causing headaches and dizziness, been like this since Thursday but seems to be getting worse. My body temperature is odd, last night I was sat wrapped up in blankets as my stomache and thighs were like ice to touch compared with the reat of my body but if I have a bath my feet swell and go rashy? I feel I am going insane and also persistant hives and itching. Had hives for 2 months and I am on double antihistamens

You need to see the doc, Wendy. If you suspect Lymes it needs dealing with quickly. Even if it isn't Lymes, the symptoms sound as if they need fairly urgent attention. At the very least ring NHS Direct for advice. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Hi Wall
We did have someone asking the same on here last year, but you make a list of everything for when you see your GP...I hope you get some answers I think it is down to blood test If I remember rightly xLove

I'm pleased you're seeing a doc and I hope he can help. We did have someone a couple of years ago who found that she had Lymes and not arthritis. Please let us know what he says, yes? DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

will do. I feel like I am hungover without the drink, but really thirsty too very odd feeling but its strange how you dont think anything of a situation until something like this happens.

Just seen this on an ex pats site for a couple living in Portugal apparently the worse time to get bitten is May and we were there 5th May lasy year!!!0 -
Gp has ordered bloods for lymes test which apparently is complex but he is in doubt whether it is as he still believes this is a form of inflammatory arthritis. Did not want to take sick leave but GP has now strongly advised I take it as I now have to come off all meds so will have no pain relief until further tests are done with Rheumi and second MRI sca, so still in the dark folks but hopefully I may have answers.

I hope you get the results, and some treatment, soon, Wendy. Whatever it proves to be. Your doc is doing the right thing even if he doesn't think it's Lyme. It doesn't sound to me as if you could work at present. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Thanks Sticky. I spoke to my team leader who I might add has also proved to be a very good friend to me during all of this, I told her I did not want to be on the sick as I know how busy we are, she told me I probably dont or wont accept how ill I probably am right now for my GP to be taking these measures. Sounds odd as I have tried to remain positive during this but obviously I have had my weepy feeling so sorry for myself days were I have had to kick my backside and remind myself there is and always will be people a lot worse off than me, today however I feel panicky and scared, I dont know why, I have been an asthmatic since I was 19 yrs old and rushed into intensive care on many occasion, yet it never scared me. My GP has put on sick note Polyarthralgia. Sorry this is dragging on but my rheumi is on the sick so I did say to my GP. " why cant I see a member of his team", my GP replied that neither he nor my rheumi will want me to see a less trained rheumi as my condition is more complex than I realise, now that scares me.

I think we reach a low point in illnesses and in pain and, at that point, we only seem able to see negatives and we probably misinterpret things negatively. I'd look at it this way, Wendy:
1. You are much valued at work, so much that they want you back well, not in your current state which would only make you worse and, in the long run, make things worse for them, too.
2. You don't know how ill you are. It's a fact, isn't it? Everything is under investigation which is why you've been so frustrated for so long. The Lyme thing is only a possibility but it's one that does need investigating and, if necessary, treating. That's happening and that's good.
3. There wll always be people a lot worse off than all of us. That does not remove our own pain, problems or fears. You are currently fearing the unknown and that is scary. It may turn out to be something trivial or something easily treatable but, until you know, it's a whole minefield of fears.
4. I think you have a wise GP. He wants to ensure you see someone who understands the complexity of your condition. It might only be arthritis but it's still complex. I, too, would want that for myself in your situation, not a registrar.
It's just a matter of hanging on in there for now. As I see it, it might simply be arthritis and, if it is, finding the right meds will help. It might be Lyme in which case you'd need specific antibios (I think). Or, it might be a combination of both.
Don't worry and fret alone. Talk to us about it while you're waiting. We can't do much practically but a problem shared....and all that. (())If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Thanks Sticky
I've been homeworkign for 2 months now so used to being at home, its the sitting around bored now that will get to me as I live in a village so nowhere really to go on mobility scooter and I dont know if they are allowed on the bus or I may attempt it if this whooshing feeling calms down...Just thought of something, pity they didnt do the old video libraries anymore door to door as I could rent dvd's, hmmmm, may have to look into that.
Many thanks Sticky for you encouraging words, I really hate being negative. I need to do something to keep my mind on other things rather than this stupid whatever it is.

GP has put on sick note Polymyalgia rheumatica? Cant wait to see rheumi and get second MRI done, housbound, feeling fed up now, at least when I was at work, it took my mind off this, still got bad whooshing in head and have to be very careful when standing and eyes seem to be playing up, vision is crap, eyes are sore. Waiting for rheumi nurse to ring todayto see if consultant is back from sick leave otherwise I may have to go to another hospital.
Wendy x0 -
Any news yet, Wendy? If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Hi Sticky
Rheumi nurse rang today, due to my rheumi being on sick a full weeks clinic has been cancelled so massive back log...Physio are sending community team to bring 2 sticks and crutches to see whats best for me at 9am as balance is going ...rheumi nurse suggested my GP refers me to another hospital for quickness...GP's secretary called about an hour ago and I gave her rheumi nurses number to confirm they did not want me to go to another hospital as the fear was I would be on another waiting list and they deem this as urgent so waiting to see what is happening. At least they are trying, really cant fault my GP as he has been brilliant and does recognise this as urgent.

UPDATE
Had blood test yesterday for Lyme disease, keep getting headaches and rash but last night I feel I may have had some kind of fit. Not sure what to do, just hoping hospital hurry everything up and get this second MRI done.

Perhaps you should ring your GPs surgery and report this. Maybe you could book a telephone slot with one of the doctors and talk it through. It doesn't sound good. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Husband has just told me to call them as he said fit lasted about 20 minutes, I remember my legs felt numb and I was drooling heavily and could not lift my head up properly. Receptionist is going to pull my notes out and speak to my GP, never in my life have I experienced anything like this , I'm normally a strong person and have tried to remain positive throughout all this even with the pain but I am now feeling scared and tearfull. Lets see what GP says.
Wendy x0 -
It's that 'unknown' thing again, Wendy, and it's always scary. You've done the right thing. I hope they get back to you quickly and something can be sorted out to help. ((()))If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

GP has just rang, he needs to see me weekly and has referred me to a neurologist, been told to inform DVLA and not to drive(havnt drove for 3 monthd due to joint pains)....Just hope neuro doesnt have a long waiting list. Thank God for this site, I really am scared now, just wish I could stop crying, need to get this out of my system and stop worrying as I know it all takes time.
Wendy x0 -
Might it help to call our Helplines, Wendy? A voice on the phone can be a lot more comforting than disembodied words. Of course you are fearful and weepy confronted by all this. Who wouldn't be?
It sounds as if your husband did a good job while you were having the fit. (I presume you've not had one before.) I admire your coolness. I think, if that happened to me out of the blue, I'd bypass the doc and go straight down to A&E. I hope the neurology appointment arrives quickly. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Hi Sticky
I think my husband and daughter did not know what to do, I was asking for an ambulance but they couldnt understand me then it passed, never had anything like this before. Guy from the helpline has told me to call them but I am that up and down right now I know I will get upset on the phone then I want be able to talk, need to take all this in I think first. Amazing how a horrible bruised like feeling on the hip over a year ago can turn to something like this. My GP doesnt think it is Lyme disease, he is still on the course of inflamation of spine now linked to this I think.
Wendy x0 -
You've done (and are doing) the right things. I'm surprised that the GP didn't as you to go in today for an appointment - is the weather bad where you are? Please take things easy today, rest, keepy yourself warm, hydrated and distracted with telly or somesuch. The world can go hang for a few hours, your needs come first. Is your husband at home with you today? The Helpline people are used to hearing people cry, I think that was all Frogmorton did the first time she rang them. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0
-
Wendy, do call the Helpline. I never have done but everyone I know who has has spents minutes just sobbing, unable to speak. It might be embarassing for you but they are used to it. I really think it could help.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

How are you today, Wendy? No more 'episodes' I hope.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Hello wall1409, I too hope that last night was incident-free and that you are having a better day. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0
