Hello Teabag, I can understand your concern. I was classed as an inflammatory arthritis patient for some time until my skin obliged with a bout of psoriasis, then all of a sudden I had PsA. That is a sero-negative form of arthritis and I think that RA can fall under that heading too.
I began with a very inflated left knee (I was bounced between orthopaedics and rheumatology for a year) so ortho cleaned it up (it was 27" in circumference by then) and then rheumo decided I might be one of theirs after all. It can be very difficult to 'nail' what type of auto-arthritis it could be, we're not straightforward people.
I take it you will be seeing a rheumatologist? I hope you are keeping a diary of your symptoms, what helps and hinders, your tiredness levels etc and don't be surprised if he orders further blood tests or Xrays at your appointment. I wish you well and please let us know how you get on, OK? DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -

just to say good luck at your appointment. you may start treatment called a DMARD, which is the normal 1st line of treatment. But of course, it depends on your consultant's opinion what to do.There are some very good info on the arthritis care website. This is what happened for me. Did you have bloods done as well?
good luck

Why do you think the diagnosis could be wrong, teabag? Is it just because things are a little easier? I'm afraid that's how arthritis is. The weight loss should have helped a bit though. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Hello Teabag
I have had my diagnosis changed 3 times in the last 4 years, at first they thought RA,then after X rays some sought of inflammatory arthur....then OA...with a view to regular blood test ...to see if the inflams markers go up.
I do hope you get some answers at your next appointment...and more to the point the answers you want...good luck xLove
