Hi
Well it was a very positive appointment.
He was very nice {consultant}

He's going to check some meds for contraindication with my epilepsy meds.
Going to talk to the pharmicist.

He's going to send me a list of address's where they meet {forget what he called them} basically they are casual meetings....people with chronic illness....a bit like the challenging arthrits course or Expert Patients course except its not a set 6 weeks....you can come and go as you like.

Going to organise facet injections

Going to get a psychologist to get in touch. {not a psychiatrist :lol: }
To do with relaxation etc etc.

I'm to keep on with the acupuncture course with Kristen.

I think thats all.......enough to be going on with. :wink:

Love
Hileena

    Well, summat positive for you at long last! :wink: I am pleased he was pleasant because it does make a difference, doesn't it? The casual meetings sound like a good idea, meeting others who sail in similar boats is always useful, good for him for checking the meds and the psychologist may be able to pass on some tips etc that are new to you. Let's hope the acupuncture does its stuff and all in all I reckon that appointment was time well spent. DD

    Hi
    Well yes I was pleased with the appointment although nothing has happened yet :lol:
    He did say to talk to Kristen about the TENS machine when I go on Friday for acupuncture.
    I know his opinion anyway...he will say go for it. The consultant said that
    the main reason they advise people with eplipsy not to use it is incase they have a seizure while wearing the TENS machine and cant turn it off and get burnt. No because it will cause one. Its 34 years since i have had one although still on medication.
    So Kristen will be the first thing....ask him on Friday....after that...well its just wait and see what comes first.

    Love

    Hi Hileena

    well that sounds like a plan :D More than we expected with only having access to 50% of the services :D

    I would definitely get the tens checked out as I do think, like you, that it might not be ok with epilepsy.

    Will hold you ahnd for the facet joint injections too :shock: (but I wont look :? )

    love

    Hi Toni
    It was Newcastle that were only going to give me 50% {I live in Northumberland} and that was........ talking to my GP about meds and 2 facet injections. That was all they could do :shock:

    I got mad the next day and rang Northumberland to find out where I should be going? They said to them {Northumberland} so on to the GP just sat in her surgery until she decided if she didnt get me an appt to Northumberland one I wasnt going to move :lol: She was right.....so this is the 2nd appt.....this one was to Northumberland where I can access 100%

    It was worth the fight to get an appointment there.

    Love

    Hi Hileena. Glad to hear that your appointment went well. It does pay sometimes to be persistent. Hope the TENS situation can be sorted for you and that it does help you. I've tried one but found that it didn't really help me at all, but that's not to say it won't help you! Take care. Beryl

    Hi!

    Glad to hear that your appointment was so positive.

    My tens machine (bought from a chemist, not the one that puss wears) turns itself off after 15 mins and, if you are disabled (have arther) you don't pay VAT so I think it was less that £15 even with delivery. Mind you, it doesn't do a thing for me but it was worth a try!!

    I am booked into a similar course of meetings, or will be when I have had my op. I went on the introduction day and I think it sounds useful.

    Hope something works for you out of all of these appointments at once.
