Hello all, today I woke up to our polite postman bashing the door whilst posting my mail. Thanks ! Although he is forgiven as he posted the leaflets I requested from this amazing website. Having read them all for a few hours I am slowly but surely starting to feel more in control and confident about RA.
It’s not all doom and gloom: I must say my little niece and nephew Ella and Jenson are what make my bad days bearable there so full of life and happiness, so innocent and so pure!. Its almost like they understand aunty Tanya has bad days. (todays a very bad day) my little niece this morning whom usually climbs all over me to give me cuddles simply climbed on the sofa sat down beside me and rested her soft little head on my arm. Priceless!
Hospital: so I called the hospital today not about my RA but about the other disease I have going on in my spine. Previously I had an MRI on my spine to check how much more damage there is, to which once I had completed the scan I was told I would receive a letter in the post informing of me of my follow up. My spinal specialist is MR ishaque. I was informed over the telephone he is now leaving the work force. And the only other doctor is Mr sian and he isn’t available to June .. not good !! however having explained my concerns to the lady she was more than happy to try and get me in asap. I must call back next week. Fingers crossed .. by June I may not have a spine left ha ha .
Pain: not as bad as I have been but definitely a bad day. My ankles are unbearable my hands are a nightmare (I’ve had to dictate this into my phone which then types it for me, emailed it to myself and then managed after half hour to copy paste and submit this thread). My spine is well ill be polite and say painful. But I refuse to let it get the better of me and I’m going to make the most of the day in bed and watch some movies and eat lots of popcorn nom nom!
Warmth: 3 hot water bottles, heated patches on my joints, heated mattress on full power, managed to get myself in the bath for an hour (hot hot). Heating in the house on full, fire on full, and small portable fire on full. Lovely !!

Dave: is so understandable of all this, he helps me get dressed, in and out of bed, even massages me with my special jointace cream (which stinks by the way). I can’t imagine what I’d do without him he’s such an inspirational person. He’s my life and rock !. around a year and half ago dave brought a new car Mazda MX5 (its like a Go Kart), and just the other week he decided he wants a new car. My response “don’t be silly you have only had this one 5 mins why you want a new car for? your just going to be wasting your money, there is nothing wrong with this one”. His response you can barely get in and out of this car its too low for you and uncomfortable im going to get a bigger car one that is more comfortable for you and ill get heated seats so that your warm” .. I cant tell you how much he loves this car its been his favourite car since he was a child and it’s all he’s ever wanted, he saved up for years to get this car.

Quick questions: does anyone on here get sever chest pain ? and I’m seriously suffering with my ankles at the moment and I’m not seeing my rheumatologist until march 5th .. is it worth popping around to see my GP?

As always thank you for your support on here and I hope you are all doing well.

Hey Tanya, Sorry your suffering still, Your OH sounds such an amazing guy! You make sure we all think he's a diamond! My OH has a low sports car, It's a nightmare getting in and out for me, we have been looking at other cars recently but finding something that has a large enough boot to put my chair in and other things, comfortable for me and still sportsy is hard! You get plenty of rest and hope you get an appt with the spine specialist soon.
