Hi folks
Long story but I'm 43, married, (hubby works full time) severe RA and I am currently in discussions with my employer regarding ill health retirement, tier 1. I have worked for my employer for 10 years, term time only, 24 hours weekly. No idea how much pension i would get. (Any ideas?) I have questions re ESA and if I could claim it, is my hubby's wages taken into consideration, how much would I get, (in support group). Would ill health retirement pension be taken into consideration, any info or similar experiences would be welcomed.
Thanks
Les

    Hello

Just read your post and noticed you hadn't got a reply so, even though I can't answer your questions, I'm replying so that it goes up to the top of the board. Hopefully, somebody out there will be able to help.

    Best wishes
    Shula

    Hi
If u are working term time only there is a chance that u are working for a local authority or school. If this is the case either ask the HR department or union rep. They will find out what u are entitled to.
In most companies HR is the place to go for this sort of info.,
    Hope this helps

I was retired at 44, a bit of a shock to the system but you get through it, only problem is that you slowly drift away from your peer groups as the relationship between work, income, social and physical activities change, you really do need to work at these.

You really do need some form of representation, employers won't do their best for you and one day you'll stand outside of the building and know that there won't be anymore help, so go and find some help now!

For questions about income after you retire you will need some assistance as well, CAB etc etc. My retirement pension was increased due to ill health but at this age you haven't worked that many years, sorry to be brutal it happened to me. The government have just dumped on us by increasing the years you need to have worked for a state pension. Don't agree to anything without help.

Part time work of a more gentle nature is not generally available and all the promises that you will get of an interview because you're 'disabled' will get lost in the ether from all types of employers.

I could go on but I think you'll be upset, go and get some professional help, NOW! Let us know how you get on.

Hi, I forgot to say that CAB have a very good internet enquiry system which can help you. Their is also a trained adviser on the help line who will be able to give you some information or an appointment to see someone more specialized. (I'm trying to train as an adviser, but have only just started and arthritis is holding me back!) Love Suex

Hi you can ask for pension prediction through your payroll dept.
My HR didn't have a clue
I've just got ill health retirement and its up to ATOS which all agencies tend to.use.
They will decide if you are suitable or not and which tier you get
you can pm me if you like

Also DWP for ESA seem to do what they like when they like and not bothered abt you as a person
mine was related to my NI contribution nothing to do with my husbands wage
i didn't get a penny for 7 months then had a lump sum paid into my account no letter saying why! In the middle of all this i had to have a medical done by ATOS which also do the assessment for ill health retirement!
So three weeks ago i had a letter saying i had been accepted for ill health retirement
next day got one for ESA saying i had failed as their medical said i was fit for work!
All very strange i wish you all the luck in the world as it is a rather stressful time
