Hi folks
Long story but I'm 43, married, (hubby works full time) severe RA and I am currently in discussions with my employer regarding ill health retirement, tier 1. I have worked for my employer for 10 years, term time only, 24 hours weekly. No idea how much pension i would get. (Any ideas?) I have questions re ESA and if I could claim it, is my hubby's wages taken into consideration, how much would I get, (in support group). Would ill health retirement pension be taken into consideration, any info or similar experiences would be welcomed.
Thanks
Les

    hi Lulu

its not easy getting onto the support group on ESA , been on incapacity for 16 years & changed over to ESA support group last month , if you are going to fill in the forms get someone to help you like citizen advice bureau

health retirement pension should not effect it as I got something similar , PHI ( permanent health insurance ) & they make up my wages but you are to young to get retirement so not sure where you stand , one thing about ESA is if you got savings over £16K they will stop it

make sure you do your research first

I think the savings over £16000 is only if you are on income based. As long as you have enough NIC stamps you can claim contribution based and I don't think savings matters for that one (check that though, don't take my word for it).
You only get it for 12 months though unless you are in the support group (difficult to get into as Trepopen said).
