ESA Appeal Decision

Hello
A little recap: I heard at the end of November that, following an ATOS assessment, I had been awarded 0 points and, therefore, I was fit for work. I did a fair bit of research and had guidance from several people here, got together copies of correspondence from my Consultants (from my GP) and sent off an appeal in December. Today, I've heard that they've reconsidered the decision, awarded me 15 points and I'm entitled to ESA including the support component. (I'm not yet sure what the support component is, perhaps somebody on the forum can enlighten me?)
Anyway, I was surprised at how relieved I felt when I opened the envelope.
Thanks for your support, practical and emotional; I'm very grateful.
Shula

I know nothing about this benefit or what it entails but I am aware of the huge struggle people have to go through to receive it. I am so pleased that common sense has prevailed and that you have been successful. The celebratory cuppas and Bourbon biccies are on me!

Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -

Thats great news and must be a weight off your mind...The support means I think that you still have to attend work focused interviews with advisor at jobcentre but mine hardly bothered me at all and knew I was waiting for my operation pre TKR.....
Its justice and a job well done by you but you shouldn't have been awarded 0 points to begin with...
Treat yourself..eh?

Shula, I do believe that having the support component means that they have put you in the support group as opposed to the work related activity group, that means you are reccognised as someone who is not fit to work. If so you will not need to attend interviews and it also gives you extra money. You will recieve a letter which should explain everything. Well done!0

That's good news for you and gives me a bit of hope.
I too was awarded O points and I am in the process of appealing.
My MRI's took a while to get done, so have only just been able to ask for copies of the results and specialists reports.
I hope they are enough to change my decision too.
It must be a great feeling, now that you know they are believing you.0 -
Have you had your letter to explain everything yet Shula. I do hope it is goood news for you.0

Congratulations Shula I am so pleased for you, I think lululu is correct that you are now in the group that you have been passed unfit for work and you should get the higher rate also get it back paid to when you appealed. My GP has done me a letter and am waiting on a letter from my consultant, will see if that gives me points, like yourself I got 0, must be a weight off your mind.............Marie xxSmile a while and while you smile
smile another smile and soon there
will be miles and miles of smiles
just because you smiled I wish your
day is full of Smiles0
