Does anyone know about taping for plantar pain - what postion should the ankle/ toes be. This morning I taped my foot with my toes bent / crinkled ie towards the ball of the foot, is that right, does it matter

Have you been advised to do this by a doc or physio? I could see it resulting in other foot problems. I'd suggest you see a doc though some arch supports might help in the meantime.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

When I had Plantar Fascilitis they gave me a plastic 'boot' to wear at night. It was supposed to keep my foot in a right angle position to my leg. It was not very successfull as I couldn't bear the straps to be tight, therefore my foot would slip up in it and not stay in position. It did work though and (touch wood) I have not had it since, althought the boot splint is still in the loft just in case.

hi, it would be better to have the tape from the ball of your foot over the heel and up the achilles a bit, then wrap a piece around your foot in line with the ball of the foot and a piece around the ankle so it keeps the tape that is long ways in place. put it on while you are making a good arch shape with your foot- this effectively brings the 2 ends of the fascia closer together so stops it being pulled, i hope that makes sense but if not i'm sure you could google plantar fasciitis strapping/taping for some pics etc.

i should add that lots of deep massage to the fascia makes a huge difference, it is a bit sore to do but will help-avoid right under the heel as this aggrevates the bony insertion, you can also roll your foot on a tennis ball/golf ball to help.

This may give you some idea. I am most surprised that if you were told to tape by medics that you were not shown how. If you have forgotten then perhaps the above link (of which there are many on youtube) may help you remember.

Taping is done differently depending on where your pain is.

NONE of the links show the toes "crinkled"/bent towards the ball of the foot when applying the tape.

The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything.

If you can lay down at night knowing in your heart that you made someone's day just a little bit better, you know you had a good day.

So hold your types towards the ceiling and push the ball of the foot downwards - the idea is you make the arch deeper. Does that make sense???

Oh that's aprob, you can cross your leg over the other if ur hip allows then work from the side instead, or find unsuspecting friend and ask them to help !!

I guess a reflexologist would say that is perfectly normal!
