Hello Mike, it will take a while for the meth to get back into your system but I hope you gain some benefit soon. Keep up with the pred for the time being, it'll help matters. DD

I've just been restarted on methotrexate too after a break of about 3 months ( had pnuemonia ) ..... I'm back on a low dose to start 2.5mg a week and its to be raised back up next time I see the dr. I can't remember how long they say it takes to "kick in" from the last time I started it 2 years ago ..... Anyone know ? Thanks

The usual time-scale (so I've been told) is anywhere between 2 - 12 weeks. DD

The most I went up to was 22.5.

I've been on 15mgs for ages. When I suggested trying for a bit lower he said 15 was regarded as a very safe dose and he'd rather I stuck with it. But I was years on between 22.5mgs-15mgs with no problems.

I'm stuck on 2.5 mg at the moment annoyingly until I get increased at my next appointment . I was on 15mg last time so hopefully they will get my increased up soon . Does anyone get it in injection form ? If so how does that work ? Is it a one off monthly or something along those lines ?

I began on 7.5 with tablets, increased to 15 then got a rash and had to come off them. I now do the injected form, it's a weekly palaver playing nursie in my bathroom but it's a darn site quicker than having to go the hospital to get it done. The injected form is more powerful than the tablets so one can be on a smaller dose with just as much benefit. I think that the only reason to go onto the injections is if one has a reaction to the tablets. The tablets are cheaper so of course they are the preferred option. DD

PS How are you getting on, Mike? Is it helping yet?

I was reading on anouther thread where you was replying to someone
and you said youre leg was very inflamed 24" to your knee (just above)
    think.
well i was sort of same and still am at moment 18" ( just above knee)
like a ballon very steady when walking about.
my other joints not much better ,(but time will tell), we all want quick
results but arther has differant ideas.
so at moment dd not happening 4 me at moment, but spose thats to be expected takes 12 to 18 weeks to see if gonna work??
    hope so mike26

'Quick results'? Nah. Even surgery doesn't give 'em that quick  Plus, I think the fact that you'd to lay off the meds while on anti-bios might play a part in length of time as you'd not been on them for long. However, we're in for the marathon not the sprint. I hope it does ease up soon.

It finally finished at 27 inches - all above the knee cap and it was a long haul to recover from the surgery. My knee is now in medical text books, my surgeon was so stupefied by what he saw when he sliced into it he stopped the op to take pictures.

The humira/meth combo is keeping the swelling at bay for me but the joint damage is irreversible hence my OA. Let's hope the meth kicks in soon and that your markers start dropping - remember to get your bloods done, OK? DD
