Taping away the Pain in my hand

The area at the bottom of my middle finger down into the palm is very painful
I have had one injection but cannot have another unless it gets massively worse, so I want to tape it up to provide support.
How would I do this, instructions, images, videos please

Hello
Sorry to say I can't answer your question, although I also have painful hands. Have you tried a splint of any kind?

I have a finger splint which is very bulky that I sometimes wear at night0

Would suggest you talk to the professionals , can you call on your OT for advice on this ? Jillyb0

I get very little hand pain these days but, when I did, I just used to work out which movements caused the pain and immobilise the joints involved any way I could for short periods. With fingers, you can often just tape the culprit to the next finger on.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Taping to the next finger wont work because its the bending of the the finger that makes it worse0

If it's bending the base joint that hurts, why not put a crepe bandage round the palm of your hand and up past the first joints and stuff something hard down it so's you can't bend them?If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

thanks in fact might try that with tape0

My thumb has been playing up lately especially at the base, so taped it up to immobilise it and helped quite a bit .............Marie xxSmile a while and while you smile

How do you actually do that will it work for my middle finger its the base and the palm that hurts so just taping to next finger does not really help0

Hi Lotsofpain as Sticky suggested try putting something hard just over the base of your finger and going in towards the palm, you will have to tape round the base of the finger and also round the hand to keep it in place, or if you can maybe get in touch with a physio department they may have some kind of splint that they would be able to give you xxSmile a while and while you smile

I have a fold over finger splint, http://goo.gl/c6Xxo[/url]
I am going to unfold it and use it as you suggest0
