Hi,

I just wanted to let everyone know about a brilliant invention that has been around a long time but only discovered by me in the last 12 months....

A a bath robe made of towel fabric!

I was having treatment last summer in hospital having IV medications and I was speaking to another patient who told me about 'towelling bath robes' - I found one for sale in my Nan's 50plus catalogue for £21 and have never looked back!

I suffer greatly with my hands and cannot dry myself with a normal towel as I can't grip it or put pressure on my skin enough to take the water off.... this towelling bathrobe has made me feel like I have a bit of independence again! .... the water soaks into the bathrobe so you don't have to put pressure and rub painful joints dry!

I thought I would share this with everyone as sometimes, we can overlook the obvious and maybe I can help someone find out about these as the woman I met helped me greatly telling me about this brilliant invention!!

best wishes,

Charleeh

Great minds? I looked into this about 12 months ago for exactly the same reason as you but I found towelling ones very heavy - too heavy for me to get on - and couldn't find a microfibre one which I think would have been good.

So I still use a small, lightweight towel to dry my top half then place a big bath towel on the bed and roll around on it :o (It's a sight to behold  )

I think your idea would help a few people on here though, charlee. Why not paste it onto the 'Simple Ideas...' thread near the top of the page?

Sorry, mate. Too much info, I know  On the other hand, for all you know, I could have a delectable, svelte, sexy body. OK I don't but we can all dream

I've just checked and can't see anything. I remember, when I was looking previously, I could find plenty of those things that wrap round you and fasten under your armpits but it seemed to me they would only dry the bits they touched :)

    Thanks for trying anyway.

Hiya Sticky & everyone that replied

I agree that they can be heavy but in my Nan's catalogue (50 plus) they come in two lengths - the one was too heavy but the slightly shorter one was ok for me to use. Albeit its a bit of a shuffle when I am quite bad it's still less painful for me to get that on than to try and dry me with a towel lol

I also find that its best to put them by the radiator to dry or else they can smell damp.

I reckon that they should make a lightweight one though - if I manage to locate one I will let you know :)

    Best wishes Charleeh
