Just a thought but you might ask a pharmacist if it's okay to take both ibuprofen and paracetemol to up the level of pain relief- my doc recommended it but you would need to check it out with your own particular medication cocktail!!!!!!!

Hope you get some relief soon.

Deb is right you can start with your pharmacist if you want to see whether or not he/she can suggest anything to help.

If OH is happy take him with you for support if you do decide to brave the docs.

    Love and ((()))

    Hello Newbygran
I do get so mad when people like you... that are in so much pain get fobbed off, dont you forget these GPs get paid well to look after you.
When I first came on this forum I was the same, but with the help of the lovely people on here,I went to my GP and asked for a MRI he said I didnt need one, so I stood my ground....got two saw a back specialist and a pain clinic...right rant over....you go back and we will all come with you...good Luck xx
    Love

pharmacists are meant to do chronic pain stuff now. i would have thought antiinflammatories would be better than paracetamol. ie ipuprofen.
if it doesnt work then go back to your doc and see if they can give you something stronger, but its not going to deal with the underlying problem. what type of arthritis is it? have you got a rheummatoloigst you can ring? or ask for a referral?
you can also self refer to physio in most places now.
i know what its like being in agony everywhere though

Can you push for an x-ray and stronger or more effective painkillers? If your GP is being awkward, can you see another GP in the practice?

Hope you feel better today xxx

I cant say any more than has already been said. I just hope that today will be a better day for you. The pain really does bring you down doesn;t it. You definately do need to get some stronger meds in you. Hope you can find the courage to push your doctor.

Pain dullers do just that, they dull the sharper edges but leave some spiky bits behind to serve as a reminder. It's miserable and so hard to manage on a daily basis, heat can help matters as can rest. I think a chat with your GP is in order - you are not being a nuisance to him, he is there to help. OK, his options are limited but there are a number of meds and combinations thereof that could help you more. I hope things are feeling better today. DD
