Hi All,

Yesterday was horrible, my hip locked up every time I sat down with my feet on the floor and I ended up on strong painkillers all day so it all became a bit of a blur. Today I'm very sore and it's the start of half term with hubby at work all day. Wish me luck! Xxx

    Ah Merry

I do hope today is much better for you.

If it has to be a half-term filled with DVDs this time it won't do them much harm.

On a positive note - you wont have to rush around like a mad-thing getting ready for school.

You look after yourself and rest as much as poss while hubby is there.

    Love

No need to be sorry Merry, thats what the forums all about, being able to express how you feel, As Toni suggested I don't think it will do any harm to have a DVD day and hopefully give you time to rest that hip, hope you feel better soon.............Marie xx

just because you smiled I wish your

I agree with Toni and Marie, it will not hurt, having dvd time for you're kids. And as Toni said, at least you haven't got the mad dash of getting them ready for school. You just make sure that you rest up as much as you possibly can. Dont feel you are being bad for this. We have all been there and it really doesn't hurt. I bet they would love the opportunity to help you.

Besides that, I really hope that you're pain levels do get better for you.

Thank you all xxxx The 7 yr old wouldn't mind a DVD day but the 6 month will object! We'll just take things very slowly and carefully. The eldest knows I need a bit of help today. The joint seems to have a hangover from yesterday, does this make sense to anyone else? Xxx

    Hi Merry
I expected a very long moan there,...dont you apologize this is what we are all here for to support one another....my hips lock in bed...so at least I am lying down...but I know how much pain you are in....and with two young children ....you must rest whenever you can ..I think this will be very limited...you let your 7 year old help has much as poss....if you praise them for it then they wont mind.....
Wish I could help more but you know were we are if you need a longer rant..((((()))) xx

That's the trouble with these babies - they're so self-centred  Merry, I remember the 'young children' days and it's not at all easy. You just have to plough on somehow. Let the older one help with the little one. Mine did. They both loved it. (They terrified my mother-in-law  )

Hangover? Mm. I think it means it's slightly better but still needs delicate handling.

We got through it with help from some of the mums at the ballet lesson (that would be the oldest daughter not me obviously!) and managed to do some shopping in the afternoon albeit quite slowly. I've really appreciated my father in law as he helped me to buy the automatic car.

I'm sure I'm far from the only one but I find the very bad days scary and I'm not comfortable with losing my independence. I also get worried that it means that the hip replacement may be a lot sooner than I want it to be. However, tomorrow's a new day and I'm sure it'll all look a lot better then.

Thank you for your kind words of advice and support, they have really helped xxx

    Aw Merry :)

Glad we can help. As far as you hip op is concerned though don't fear it...when it happens it should be a new lease of life :)

By the way what a lovely FIL you have.

And, if not, you know where to come :) (As for the new hip, try not to worry about it. I know that's easier said than done.) I had my first new knees at 35. I coped well and so did my family - my boys were 10 and 7 at the time.
