News reports from hospitals

Can anyone explain why the news reporter must invariably dress up as a surgeon? Will he be invited to have a go at operating while he’s there? Today, it was IVF for older women but it happens whatever the topic.

I’ve also seen reporters dressed up as lifeboatmen while doing a report from the quayside.

Oddly, they never feel the need to look the part when reporting on the Monster Raving Loony Party.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

    We don't have that round here - our roving reporters all proudly sport Berghaus jackets (BBC product placement or what?) DD
