Hi all,

Frogmella has asked me to post an update.

She went in on Tuesdsay and everything went well. She's OK, if a bit bored and miserable, but getting better every day. Hopefully she'll be back home Monday or Tuesday (maybe even Sunday if we're lucky).

Mr Frogmella.

Hello Mr F, it's noce to meet you and thank you for the update on Mrs F. I am pleased to hear that all went well - I think the bored and miserable bit is about par for the course when in hospital. My husband was in for five days recently and that certainly applied to him! I hope she is able to come home sooner rather than later and please pass on my best wishes. DD

And I'm back in the room!!

Finally escaped this lunchtime and made the whizz up the M6 fairly quickly so that was good! I was so tired though - I have already had a kip this afternoon and can see many more coming. They really don't let you rest in hospital do they?

I have to say the first few days were pretty rough. Pain was bad so they made me take morphine etc and all those drugs make me sick and, to be honest, didn't seem to make that much difference to the pain. So Tuesday night I was in pain and a bit out of it and then Wednesday I was in a little bit less pain - but enough - and started being sick! Joy! So I begged off all those horrible painkillers by Thursday am, took all the anti emetics they had and finally ate some crisps on Thursday afternoon. Also got out of bed with the aid of the physio on Thursday. From then on it has been pretty much plain sailing. The pain has never been that bad again - paracetamol pretty much covers it! It is amazing!

I had to stay in until today because my second drain kept draining and had to stay in until yesterday am. It really didn't want to come out either. And then I had to stay on the IV antibiotics until this am as a precaution against infection. As always my veins didn't stand up to the anti biotics very well at all and I had the canula repositioned twice. I am black and blue on my arms and hands from all the needles!

I am now glad that I did it and have an inkling that it has worked. The surgeon was very pleased with how it went and I am in less pain already. Maybe this is going to set me free!

Thank you all for thinking about me. I will keep you all posted during my recovery - three months off work so, yes Bubba, I will be reading loads too!

    Well DONE you Frogmella

as a fellow back-person I am pleased to hear how well you are getting on - I hope you're right and it is going to help LOTS :D

Sounds as though it wasn't 100% plain sailing, but if the outcome is as good as it's promising to be - it will be well-worth it.

    Take care now

    Love

I still feel pretty good! I walked 10 minutes today and have been cooking dinner etc. I do hurt at the start and end of the day, but no worse than before. Tomorrow I get to have my clips out (gulp) and then I can have a SHOWER!
Thanks for all the support on here. It was nice to know there were people in my corner and helped me through some of the bad days.

I hope the clips removal will go smoothly. No reason why not. And then....and then that lovely shower :D Make sure you enjoy every minute of it. The first is always the best :D
