Sorry but you need permission to use us for your research. Check the Terms & Conditions.

If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Hi Elizabeth
Rules are rules I am afraid. You could use the search button by typing in door handles. There are four pages with those two words mentioned in the postings and amongst them there were a couple of ways that people with arthritis manage to open doors, the type of door handle favoured and also how difficult it can be.
Good luck with your research and design.

Hi Elizabeth you can't ask but I don't think I will be breaking the rules if I reply, I have a lot of difficulty with turning door knobs because of sore fingers and wrists. I also have trouble pulling doors open as I have sore elbows and shoulders too. Good luck with your research I hope you find lots of sensible people to help you.0

There are three straightforward solutions.
1. When at home don't shut room doors, just pull them to.
1. When out and about wait for someone to open the door (and hope they hold it open while you navigate said opening with your sticks or rollator).
2. Make all doors (uncluding domestic ones) automatic.

I'm puzzled as to why this thread hasn't been removed as usually anyone doing research gets very short shrift from the Mods even when they don't include forbidden email addresses.
However, as this has escaped the net so far, knobs are a nightmare: levers are easiest. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

I think mods are in short supply especially at the weekends. Any willing volunteers out there?
