I went on my cupcake decorating course today most I already knew anyway but I did get some good tips and learnt a bit more on my icing skills which was my main reason for going anyway as I knew the rest.I think it has done me some good and have realised how much I have missed my baking and as it was pointed out to me I shouldn't give up what I love, even though my wrists and hands are quite painful now with all the kneading of sugarpaste.I have decided to keep busy while I can and I would like to try sell them for charity to raise funds for AC and AR once I have got my arthritis a bit more under control and think it would help to keep me busy,I don't drive so can anyone suggest the best places that might help to sell them and if anyone has any idea what sort of price would be ideal per cupcake remembering every penny will count.Thankyou.

I think the way ahead is to keep going with what you love but bearing in mind your limitations ie remember it might actually be good therapy for your hands as well as good for the spirits but, if it starts to create more problems, you may have to ease up sometimes.

It’s hard to price a cupcake when we don’t know the size and, to be honest, as I never buy them, I don't even know what shops charge. I think the usual thing, at 'cake stalls' for church or school, is to charge slightly less than the shops even though the quality is better. And, I’m afraid I’ve no idea where you might sell them other than to hold coffee mornings or something of the sort. Maybe others will have some ideas.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Congratulations a) for being able to make them along with all the lovely icing and decorations and b) for wanting to raise money for a good cause.

Have you thought about letting your friends know about them ie for birthdays, other special occasions or even weddings if you are up to making large batches at one time. All the rage now isn't it for weddings and birthdays, not always to have huge cakes but individual ones put onto tiered stands which can look stunning.

The other suggestions are good too.

Well done, your enthusiasm is shining through in your posting. :D

Hi there I like cooking, I changed to a wheat free diet to help limit my migrains, it has given me a new interest to research recipies for gluten free cooking, there are times I wished I could have got some cakes at our local fete, and christmas fair, please consider making a few of them, I use gluten free flour self raising, I also make a gluten/dairy free ones for my daughter, I batch bake and freeze the ones that don't get eaten, handy for those days when everything hurts, I also invested in thick handle cooking tools, great to bake eh,

I cook gf cakes for my son. I use basic recipes but use GF flour instead, zantham gum and a couple of drops of glycerine. Also make him GF bread from a bought packet which makes two loaves.

Baking rocks, although I am no good at fiddly, fancy iced cakes.

    Hi Shandy

I am so pleased you are feeling inspired again :)

In your shoes I would contact my local branch of AC and see if a coffee morning could be arranged maybe at the library....or a spare room at the Doctor's surgery?? They can provide info too then for the public.

    Love

Sounds awesome, I love cupcake decorating! Another way to be creative!
Raising money for ac is a great thing, it's something I did when I felt up to it and it made me feel like I had achieved something! I will have a think about how and where to sell, I have sold them to others for about £1-2 per cupcake previously if that helps!

Thanks Ali,It's all I ever did until I got my RA and since I've just lost interest so it would be good to have something to aim for to keep me going and motivated again(hopefully).
