Hi

I got my phone call on friday saying I had failed the medical and they were sending me words to that effect. I assumed it would be in the post pretty soon but it didn't come over the weekend and to date still has not arrived.
So I rang up the DWP and got a man on the phone who said he could not clarify when it had been sent out but it most likely hadn't made friday's post so it most likely had been sent out on monday's post. Whilst on the phone to him I told him I had GL24, was appealing and was arranging a sicknote back-dated from 1st March 2013. I asked him did i have to put it in writing that I wished to receive ESA lower rate while appealing, he said no it automatically gets re-instated as lower rate ESA. He said I would get it this week. I also requested copy of medical assessment too, he said someone would phone me at 13.30 today, well surprise its 13.40, no phone call!!??
I can fill in the GL24 myself as I know what I am appealing, its first 3 issues but need to speak to CAB to get a wee bit of advice to see what someone else thinks I should have scored (I got the grand sum of ZILCH)!!...
So I will get this sorted out, this week will be a washout but it can get back-dated so things will move but slowly...They should surely send out the correspondence before phoning you I feel....
The government are terrible!

Elaine don't hold your breath that you will even get it this week I'm afraid, it will say on the report that someone spoke to you about the decision, by the time all the administration is put together it could be another week before you get it, I was at hospital getting my treatment the day they phoned me as it was documented and I'm sure it was a good week and a half before the report came through, although, every area will be different. regarding your sick line I don't think the docs can back date it but can put a comment on that you are still unfit for work, if I was you I WOULD put you are requesting ESA until your appeal, I did on mine it won't do any harm I was advised to do this, I know it's a pain in the posterier but once you get the form in and sent back mine was sorted out pretty quickly and back dated, hang in there wont be long now..............Mariex
Smile a while and while you smile
smile another smile and soon there
will be miles and miles of smiles
just because you smiled I wish your
    day is full of Smiles

Well the doctor said she would back-date the sicknote so that is not a problem at all, something less to worry about...I will still put a note in saying I want to request ESA until appeal....I haven't sent for the report yet, waiting for someone to call me was supposed to be at 13.30 and oh look its 14.11 and no phone call!! I was talking about the letter saying I had failed the assessment that's what I haven't even had, ridiculous...
I refuse to stress about it, what good does it do, NONE!!

Both me and my hubby are on esa. Hubby received a letter just after xmas. Saying that his money had stopped on Boxing day because he did not pass the assessment. Considering he never received one. And it was a blow just after xmas. He called them. They realised he had not had an assessment but could not change anything until he did have one. In the end he send a letter saying that he still could not work and that since the last one things had go worse for him. 2 weeks later we received a letter saying everything was back to normal and his money was in the bank. Still short a couple of day or so.

Now, we are waiting to hear about mine. I am not looking forward to it. I filled out the forms well before xmas and have not jeard anything yet.

So, good luck on you're and let us know how it goes for you.

Everything you have written about to me below just demonstrates how out of touch the government/ATOS are with this whole system..Where else could someone work and be so inconsistent and incompetent? It beggars belief! The sad thing is that you and your husband are one of milions of people having to pay the price for their incompetency...
I truly wish we could all club together and call for them to be sacked and a new system/fair one put in place...
