Well,

sorry I had been quiet the past few days but typing wasnt great lately lol

Just back from my first steroid injection which was done by a consultant and I have to say this was probably the longest and most informative session about anything I have ever had.

Unfortunately the result isnt as great - based on all my medical history (and certain things like my issues with my back when I was a teen which I had almost forgotten about etc) he tends to add to the OA which is visible on the x-ray's something thats called Ankylosing spondylitis which is apparently one of those zero negative RA - I dont seem to have any fusion yet but slighter less range of movement in certain areas plus the fact that both shoulder seem to be affected now.

Still have to get bloods done on Tuesday but he expects them to come back negative for any Rheumy markers - so I guess the journey goes on lol

I'm like usual the "odd ball" I always tend to have things that are harder to pin and categorize

Oh well .... life goes on

-Markus

I hope you can rest for at least 24 hours after the steroid injection because that will help it to work (my hospital always recommended 48 hours bed rest but that was because they were in my knees). As for the AS there are quite a few on here with that, it is indeed a form of sero-negative arthritis and there are treatments available. It's not, alas, that unusual to have an auto-immune arthritis with OA, I'm a member of that 'illustrious' group. DD

I hope the steroid works. As DD says, do try to rest the joint for 48 hours to enable it to do it's stuff.

AS is sero-neg so you won't have any markers and they wouldn't be expected. AC do a factsheet on it http://www.arthritiscare.org.uk/PublicationsandResources/Arthritisbasics/Typesofarthritis
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

So of to resting me goes ;)

    Thanks again for the support!

Hehe - glad I'm not the only odd ball

So far so good, last night wasnt great pain wise but that was to be expected and I was told that once the local anesthetic wears off it will be painful and sure enough it was ;)

Today isnt bad, it is painful but that type of the constant pain has changed so the "standing pain" feels today more like a real bad muscle ache, the pain on movement is still there but I try to use the shoulder as little as possible for the injection to work its best.

Hopefully I have good news in the next few day, wish me luck ;)

Hi Marcus, Hope you find some relief from your pain soon and the steroid injection does it job! I think Arthritis brings out the 'odd ball' in all of us! We have to keep on laughing or god knows what we would do!
