had dry eyes for over ten years because of RA , they done the blotting pager test & was totaly dry , always been given Hypromellose 0.3% in bottles but had lot of problems in last year with scleritis & they are always sore , just wonder if Preservative Free drops helps & if the preservatives are causing them to be sore & maybe causing the Scleritis

I use carmellose sodium drops, get them on prescription. They are by far the best I've ever used. Hypromellose didn't work for me. There is also something called hycosan which you can buy from the optician and some pharmacies which is good too but it's it's quite expensive I think.0

I use Viscotears which contain carbomer, because hypromellose drops just didn't work at all. They didn't last long enough and I was having to apply them every 15-30 mins. The Viscotears are gel based so they last a lot longer. You can get them on prescription or over the counter from a pharmacy.0

Are you under an opthamologist? I have dry eyes and was using lacrilube at night. When I saw the optha he said I have severe dry eye and I have to use the drops you describe and viscotears 7 x daily as well as the lacrilube at night and he may still decide to put plugs in to the tear ducts.
It sounds as though you need a specialist opinion, I was referred to a Professor at the hospital for this. It needs treating as it can damage your eyes.0 -

Hi
Better waiting to you see the consultant I was given Hpermellose by the nurse at the hospital but before that the optician gave me clinitis which I found really good, you might want to try bathing your eyes gently with baby shampoo soaked into cotton wool or similar this might help a little until you see your consultant..........Marie xSmile a while and while you smile
smile another smile and soon there
will be miles and miles of smiles
just because you smiled I wish your
day is full of Smiles0
