I had a dexxa scan last September, which involved clambering onto a standard x-ray table and being pushed into various positions with and without a big (cold!) block to raise my legs and feet. Much the same as a normal x-ray. I had to get undressed and wear hospital gowns, but some info I've seen gives the impression that you can stay in your own clothes - perhaps it depends on the kind of machine used.
Two bits of advice assuming this is because OP is suspected- ask for a copy of the results from your GP, and look at the National Osteoporosis Society website if you haven't already. Their helpline nurses are very knowledgeable and helpful.0 -
Hi Coco I had one a few years ago I was fully clothed, and I must admit i felt like dropping off to sleep, they move you into different positions, it's like a small arm going over you, I hope this helps

I had a dexa scan recently. It only lasted a very short while. I did not have to wear a hospital gown, just my own clothes minus shoes. It was fine. What was not so fine was the result of the scan.
I hope your scan goes well and the result is favourable.

I would much rather have stayed dressed, the hospital gowns are so tatty you have to wear 2, one right way round one back to front, to avoid displaying everything as you wander around the corridors with your wordly goods in a wire basket. The info leaflet I was sent explained that certain materials can affect the scan so that's why they want you in their gowns.0

Hi
I've had a couple and havent had to get undressed for either.
The same as other people, legs over a block but it was OK and I just lay there and this thing went back and forward {not touching}
It was fine...except for the result :roll:
