ATOS Medical Tomorrow - Having a Panic!

Well, my medical is tomorrow and I'm having a panic
What if it snows and we can't get there?
What if it snows and the children's school is closed so my husband can't take me?
What if they don't have the recording equipment I requested?
If they don't have the recording equipment can I refuse to have it done?
If I refuse will I lose my benefit?
Will they take into account that my husband has to dress me?
Will they also take into account that my daughter does my hair?
Will the fact that I have long hair fail me?... simply breathing seems to fail many poor people!!!!
I can't walk far but don't have a wheelchair as I don't leave the house so is that 0 straight away?
Will I have to undress?
What if I do and they want me to get on a bed? Even my rhem doesn't ask me to do that (or ask me to undress come to that)
Oh my goodness, I feel like my poor brain is going to explode

You tell it as its your worse day...If they ask about dressing and personal care say you do not do that as you don't, do not elaborate unless they ask...If it snows then you just phone and tell them you are unable to get there, same with school etc...
Recording equipment should be there, if not complain, you won;t lose any benefit right away they tell you by phone or letter, then you deal with it..As for the other questions the couch I said I could not, was unable, under any circumstances DO NOT DO ANYTHING THAT WILL HURT YOU OR EXACERBATE YOUR CONDITION FOR THESE NUMPTIES!!...
Its up to you now, you can only be yourself...
Good luck

Thanks Elaine - I'm really having a flappy day all round I think!
I've been reading your posts about your medical - OMG what they put you through and you're still having to deal with it too. I think it's quite disgusting what's going on.
I'll let you know tomorrow how it goes

Now now then just calm down.
You are going for a medical and you only have to answer the questions that are put to you. If you feel you need to add something that has not been asked of you then await your time and ask away when it is your turn.
I assume you want the medical to be recorded and have requested it therefore if the recording equipment is not there or it is not working you can refuse to carry on until it is there and operating correctly?
I would advise once you have answered a question stick at that and await the next question. That way you can't talk yourself into any problems.
Most of all don't panic and let it get the better of you.
It seems to me that every day is your worst so no need to pretend, just be yourself.
If asked to be examined you need to do as much as you can but if there is something you have a problem with please speak up. They are not there to force you into anything you can't or will not do.
Remember if it is recorded everything you say will be on tape/disc. It is for your benefit. (No pun intended)
Good luck and stay cool.0 -
All I can say is I am glad you are getting it recorded as the others say if recoding equipment not there as requested don't do it, I doubt very much if you would be asked to undress I certainly wasn't and never heard of anyone being asked to do so, as for getting on a couch if you try and can't do it then you have the recording to fall back on that you did not refuse, the questions you will be asked will be relating to the forms you filled in so say it as it is, hope you get on well tomorrow let us know how you get on good luck.................tc........................Marie xSmile a while and while you smile
smile another smile and soon there
will be miles and miles of smiles
just because you smiled I wish your
day is full of Smiles0 -
I had an instance where the recording eqpt was unavailable & was allowed to reschedule so you *should* be ok there.
Make sure you go as you usually are, I've made the mistake before of making an effort (ie up to my outdoor/appt level of slightly more presentable) - no point, just gives a false impression).
Remember you have to be able to perform most of the descriptor activities 'reliably & repeatedly' so keep harping on this if you only do something once & then have to rest.
Very best of luck.0 -
Sorry I am late but just want to wish you good Luck with it xLove

Hi. Just been reading your posts. Do hope all went well for you today and you managed to get to the medical. Maybe the weather isn't too bad where you are? It's certainly not very nice around my way. Let us know how you got on. Take care. Beryl0

Thinking of you as well, & trying to send out vibes that it goes well for you 8) - from the weather generally seems unlikely you were unable to go? Whether that is a good or bad thing though..!0
