Hi every one It's been ages since I wrote on here, I went to my doctors last Tuesday after months of my hubby telling me to get things sorted, I haven't felt myself for ages very tired, dizzy bending forward or lying down, actually just feeling exhausted, I just put it down to the pain I was in.
Any way my doctor decided to send me for a full blood test/ fasting test just to see what was wrong, she said she would see me after her holiday but Friday afternoon I received a phone call asking me to come the surgery on Monday morning, the doctor I saw went though my results, then said he had seen quite a few people with high iron results, but had never seen anyone with results that high.. he said he didn't much about this, so he was going to get in touch with a hematologist to find out what needs to be done. Does any one have any knowledge about this please
Take care Sue x

I'm afraid I have only been on the other side of the scale, I can only think that you maybe cut out red meat and the likes of liver(I had to increase mine when it was low) I know that vitamin c increases iron absorbtion, hopefully you will get appointment soon let us know how you go.........tc...........Marie xx

Aw, Poor you Sue. I am so sorry this has not been picked up earlier.

I have done a quick google and it is interesting. Obviously in a very different way from how you are viewing it because it has happened to you but I do like to learn new things. I had never heard of having too much iron and what that is all about.
Your symptoms go with this for sure from what I have just read. . Have you had a few blood transfusions? It can be hereditory apparently.

    Love

Hi Sue ,as Elna says it sounds like it might be haemochromatosis ,my brother was diagnosed with this last year his iron levels were really high, there is a blood test (2 lots )that can confirm or rule it out , they treat it by taking a pint of blood every month (bloodletting ) until the iron levels return to normal ,we all had to be tested for it but he was the only one with it ,hope you get some answers soon ,Anne x

Hi vililer I know what you mean I have only heard of low iron which a few of my family have had.

Hi Toni it's nice see you pop up, I don't know what they will do, but hopefully this man will fingers crossed :?

Hi Elna no I've not had any transfusions and the doctor didn't mention any names at all, he said they shouldn't be long getting back to him (about a week or two) I thought he meant in a few days  I have never had a fasting test before, so it was a good job I did because I would never have known :o
thanks for looking it up

Unsure what are you like :lol::lol:

Barbara I've not heard of it so that makes two of us  I hope I hear from them soon, and I will let you know

Anne thats going to be good trying to get blood out of me  I have to go to the hospital when I have a blood test, because of deep veins, they do insist at the doctors that they can get it easy, but still end up at the hospital after they have tried three times with no success :o So now I go straight to the hospital, so the vampires can get it first time :)

My doctor rang me today he said he had been in touch with the hematologist & he as decided to see how things go in the next two weeks then have another blood test to see how things are,the hematologist said he thinks the reason I have such an high reading is because there is a lot of inflammation, which could be caused by a virus, so yet again it seems I have to sit and wait, oh well I'm used to that
