Ah yes, that sounds familiar. An insulated mug may be an answer and they usually come with a lid. My answer is to stay downstairs for the first cuppa and then return to bed with the second 'cos by that time things have freed-up a little. DD

I'm pleased I could help, it might be worth giving that a whirl as it eases the time pressure of a cooling cuppa. The same would apply to a thermos - you could then have more than one drink! :) DD

OK, now's the time to rest to make sure that it can have the best effect possible. Whenever I had my knees done my hospital told me that 48 hours bed-rest was the best thing I could do to help it, I always did so but to no avail. Hey-ho. Please rest if possible, for at least 24 hours - anything that might help it to work is worth doing. DD

I'm struggling to get upstairs these days, my G.P said yesterday once the new meds kick in a few weeks time (take up to 12 weeks to feel difference) I should find it easier getting up stairs. So for now going upstairs on my bum! Kittens think it's a game and try and hitch a ride!

Re morning tea, travel kettle upstairs for me! Small pots of teabags, sugar & powdered milk in cupboard. Either fill night before or fill in the morning if fussy, never regretted it. Don't think I could get up & go down to make tea unless I'd had a cup of tea first, so that would be a standoff situation!

I believe 'Teasmade' is still available. I like the idea of a thermal mug with a lid. I might use that one myself.
I also put my cup/other item on step then go up although holding rails. When I get near top of stairs I can push things through the lower gap in the bannister then pick them up when I get to landing. Luckily I can bend from my non-existent waist although knees don't bend. :)

That's not good. Is it back to the doc too, then?

    Hi,
Be careful on the stairs with a cup. I came down stairs once holding a mug, slipped, held tightly to the mug, which broke anyway and slipped right down the stairs. Next day I was in so much pain my GP refused painkillers and sent me for an x-ray - I'd cracked a small bone in my pelvis! :o Pre arthritis days.

Hope you feel better soon,

    Love Suexx
