Stiffening up slowly - how long does it take?

People who have come off MTX (sub cut) for whatever reason - how long before the RA pain returned for you? I've been taking it for 17 months orally and more recently by injection. Everyday I'm a little stiffer and achier - got a few more doses to go before I climb back on so wondering what to expect. A month suddenly feels like quite a while!

Also got a persistent sore throat - keep waiting for a cold to arrive but zilch - its been ten days now and it neither worsens nor improves. Could this be part of secondary Sjogrens as I do have dry eyes and mouth? Mat

I would say it is different for everyone.

In the past I have gone weeks without meds and been fine but this year the pain returned very quickly and is not shifting now I'm back on my meds.

Hope things improve for you soon,

    Elizabeth

For me I had the worst flare up of my life 2 weeks after stopping the Methotrexate 25mg injection I was on last year. Hope this helps.

Thanks - it does help although I'm three weeks into the time off Metoject now. I am feeling it but haven't flared yet - just one more dosage skip to go before I start again but I'm alone with sons and two energetic dogs for next week so am wondering what I might expect. Not worried about flaring up unduly because teenage sons can help out if necessary but I am a bit concerned if it goes for my wrists again and I can't work or drive. Presently feeling it as an ache in feet, knees and wrists but not more than a bit sore thankfully. Mat x

Learning I'm not as RA active as I was led to believe I think - if your theory is right anyway. I'm not breaking with MTX in order to find out how bad my RA is - but its useful to find out at same time if possible. Maybe helps my argument for lowering my dose again. Mat x
