 Hi all I am just feeling the need to talk - its late at night and sleep does not come at all easy. I am lucky enough to work and have a few days off now! However, I am finding work increasingly hard to cope with and am currently trying to negotiate fewer hours. I have recently had X-rays taken after a long chat with my fabulous doctor, and I await the results. Not much more to say except bring on the sunshine - cos I notice when the sun shines my pain almost vanishes. I was wondering if any of you have a similar experience? I will put out a poll so we can get some figures on the answer to my last question. Kind regards to you all Shirley x

    Hi Shirley,

I dont find the sunshine makes any difference to my pain but I have RA rather than OA and I can really hurt whatever the weather. I do think that my mood lifts though and that can ease it a little which is the same for everyone really when the sun comes out.

Where work is concerned I would opt for the fewer hours (if you like your job). I worked full time for 11 years with RA and although there were tough times, I loved my job and it was the most normal part of my life. I was made redundant in 2011 and after some surgery was very poorly for at least 18months. I still dont know whether it was my RA or the shock of losing the job - my one purpose for keeping my motivation going. I know that with no work I tended to notice everything hurt far more than when I had been working. So hang on in there if you can and make sure you access all there is to help you do that. I ended up with flexible hours, later starts (due to morning stiffness) and a laptop to work from home if I couldn't get to work. There is a lot that can be done. I got back into the workplace as soon as I could and although I have only had part time work I am now feeling much better. Now just got to get myself in the right frame of mind for two new knees (they both have OA now). Its all good fun isn't it!

Hope the good Doctor sorts you out soon!

I have both an auto-immune and OA, the only difference sunshine makes is to my mood. It's easier to cope when the world looks more cheerful. DD

The sunshine doesn't make any difference to my pai as such but it does to my mood so I tend to feel a lot more cheerful and not feel the pain so much.
Keep your job as long as you can.....just a few hours....but something to keep you going to give you a purpose

    Love

For the picture I think you go into user control panel and 'hunt' about - it's been so long since I did mine I've forgotten. DD
