A diagnosis and a podiatry referral

Hello
Bobbing my head around the corner mid-panic aka trying to tie up loose ends with my uni work.
Over the last few years, I've had a lot of to-ing and fro-ing from rheumatology to orthopaedics to physio, been poked and prodded and scanned. With regards to my feet and ankles, I've had no response to DMARD therapy. Given that my symptoms are disproportionate to the level of disease activity, (e.g. i do have active RA in my feet but it's not the main problem) they were finally able to give a vague diagnosis. In both feet/ankles, I have mechanical problems within the ankle joint (possibly from previous RA inflammation) and ligaments in need of surgical repair. For various reasons, I am not yet willing to go down the surgical route.
Sooooo yesterday, I saw rheumatology physio who suggested a referral to podiatry. I said I had tried orthotics and wasn't keen but she said their podiatrist is really good and can help in other ways. Me being me didn't think to ask  and I was just wondering if anyone else has seen a podiatrist and if it's helped?
Thank you, as always!

Hi Sophie
Did you buy the orthotics yourself, the podiatrist will be skilled in watching you walk and molding orthotics to your feet not that I have had this done but my hubby did, they took a bit of getting used to but made a big difference.I do hope its all goes well you.Good Luck with your exams .Love

Hi Barbara,
No, I saw an orthotics person. I wasn't very impressed to be honest. It was at a different hospital, so maybe I'll be luckier this time!
Thanks for the reply.0
