Physiotherapy appointment - at last

Hi everyone. Well after a long wait have had a call this afternoon offering me a physio appointment for tomorrow. Although I am not feeling too brilliant, can't get rid of this sinus/chest infection, hve accepted their offer as my back has got so bad have been praying that it wouldn't be too much longer before I heard something, so will make the effort and go. It's not very far from me but have to have a taxi there and back (which is becoming increasingly common for me these days) - an expense I could well do without. However, just hope the physio will help and keeping fingers crossed. Hope you are all as well as possible. Beryl

I am glad that an appointment has come through - don't go with hopes too high as the first one is usally just an examination and assessment of what's what - and don't go too mad with doing any prescribed exercises either. A little and often is far better than a lot and often.
I too am battling with an infection - they are a blasted nuisance, aren't they? I hope yours does the decent thing and clears off sooner rather than later. I wish you well. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
Thanks DD. Hope you are feeling a little better too. Decided to ring surgery Thursday afternoon and ask them if my Dr thought I needed a further course of antibiotics or maybe a different one. Was told my Dr on holiday (again!) and wld speak to another dr. They arranged for another prescription and pharmacy delivered it to me on Friday, so hope they will fjnally clear it.
Went to physio (have been before). First treatment session is Thursday this week and she warned me would be 45mins. Think I may be in for a torrid time but if it helps then I will put up with the pain.
Do hope you will be feeling a little better soon. You really have had a lot to cope with recently. Take care. Beryl. ((()))0 -

Hi Beryl,
I hope it helps. I have found physio useful in the past. As DD says, little and often is much better than lots and often! I am very prone to going mad in an attempt to speed things up so have learnt that lesson!
Good luck with it. I'll time my own exercise session to coincide if you let me know when your appt is then I can keep you company!0 -
Hello again, I hope the new anti-bios are doing something and that Thursday goes well - make sure you take it steady girl! I'm deteriorating again so am off to the docs tomorrow. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi everyone and thanks for all your support. Shall think of you Frogmella when am being put through the mill - my appointment is 10 a.m. Have got my taxi home booked for 11o'clock. She said I wouldn't be ready til at least 10.50!! Shall leave kettle and mug ready for when I get home. Think I shall probably need it.
Will let you know how I get on. Hope you feel a bit better soon DD. Think my antibios are helping a little.
Hope you are all as well as possible. Take care. Beryl0 -
OK - it's a date. On thursday I will do my exercises at 10am!0

Hi frogmella. Well I survived the physio session and am now back home recovering with a cup of coffee plus a couple of choccy biscuits! After an examination of my back (not too painful), and a few exercises, the physio said she thought the best course for me would be hydro-therapy - which I start on 23rd. She decided to give me a massage to try and help ease the pain so will see what happens. Hope your exercise session went ok? Beryl.
P.s does anyone know how May is getting on. Haven't seen anything posted but may have missed it.0 -
I did my exercises at about 10.30 so I hope we coincided! Hydro sounds good to me - I have never had any but I do enjoy aqua aerobics etc so I think I would like it. A good massage is often the best thing for my back. Glad the session went well. x0

So glad that you had your appointment and went. How are you feeling now?? Just wandering as I had physio for my neck and since then I am rather numb. Hope you don't mind. And I think that they are sending you to the hydro pool is marvellous.Karen xx0

Hello Constable. Well am feeling a little sore today but am trying to take things easy as I am going out tomorrow. Am off to Biggin Hill to visit my little grandson who will be 2 on Tuesday. My Son is coming with me and I shall have him to help me with station steps etc. Not a very easy journey by public transport.
Am hoping to come to Tunbridge Wells on Tuesday to meet one of my friends (if I've managed to recover from tomorrow's outing!). It always takes me at least a couple of days to recover if I venture further afield than locally and find I can't manage to go out on consecutive days as my wretched back doesn't approve. I get the bus from where I live into Maidstone and then the bus to TW. It's quite a nice ride around the Kent countryside.
As I am not able to do very much walking, we just go for coffee + chat in one of the coffee shops near the bus stop, pay a brief visit to c & h fabrics, one of my favourite shops, the branch in Maidstone closed down over a year ago), then lunch and another chat and then back home.
Hope you are as well as possible and your neck not too painful. Beryl.0 -
I know Biggin Hill well. I originally come from Orpington. And used to go to the pubs that way. It is a small world is it not.
You make sure you don't over do things ok.Karen xx0 -
Glad you finally got physio appointment. I had to fight for it and it was a great help. Hope you get benefit from it, like I did !0

Hi Karen. Well it is definitely a small world. I was born at Farnborough and lived at Orpington (in Broomhill Road) until I was nearly 17. Went to school at Charterhouse and then to Chislehurst Tech. Was in the Brownies and Guides also. My little grandson was also born in Farnborough Hospital. Am not sure what age group you are, probably not as old as me? It's changed a lot since I left!! Before I retired I worked for a firm of solicitors at Locks Bottom and whilst there actually worked on a transaction to sell the house had lived in since I was born. Could hardly believe it. As you say, small world.
Do PM me if you want to have more of a 'chat'

It's getting smaller Beryl. I went to Charterhouse as well. My family lived at Cloonmore Avenue. My mum worked at the Change of Horses at Farnborough.Karen xx0

Hi Karen. Well, how about that. How long ago did you leave Orpington? When were u at Charterhouse? Have just got back from my visit and now having a cuppa to recover. Feeling a little the worse for wear! How are you today? Do hope you are feeling a little less sore. Beryl. xx0

Oh Poor you Pringle  You have been treated badly and overlooked
I suppose you will have to chase them up again on Monday.
Beryly and Karen - small world eh?

Hello Pringle. Am sorryto hear you have been mucked about so much about yr physio appointment. Think you should phone them again tomorrow and let them know how you are and how you have been dealt with. Do hope you have some success.
Agree about the wheatbags. I'm affixed to one at the present time - on my poor back - after yesterday's visit.
It certainly is a small world! Lovely to make contact with Karen who knows my former haunts.

Hello, I've read through but can't really remember how your session went. Many moons ago I tried hydro, it was lovely whilst in but hell on coming out so make sure you don't overdo things when in that lovely warm pool - always stop when you think you can do more. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Thank you DD. The session last Thursday was just an examination of my back, a few more exercises to do and then a short massage. The physio decided on the hydro because she thought it would be easier on my back, rather than being pulled about with normal physio. Have had hydro before so know what is coming! I agree with you that it helps whilst in the water but doesn't have much effect afterwards, other than to make you feel really tired.
I had intended to try and have a fairly quiet week next week as on the 26th have got quite a big event. My Son and I are going up to Sunderland to attend the Mayor's Ball! We met some people on a cruise holiday 2 years ago and have become great friends with them. For the past year Iain and Barbara have been Mayor and Mayoress but their term of office is almost over. We are both looking forward to seeing them but I just hope (and pray), that my back and knee don't play up too much. It's the walking that finishes me off and I certainly shan't be taking to the dance floor! So apart from hydro, also have a hair appointment.
Take care. Beryl.0
