Hi,
My temp was only slightly raised wen she checked it but its steadily going up, mainly at all my joints tho so I think its part of the arthritis flare.
She told me to stop taking methotrexate!! The only time they've ever done that b4 was wen I had GF!! I've been given 7days of the Doxycycline 100mg, they're the stronger ones they give me on week 2 & Prednisolone 30mg mornings for 5days. I have to go back on Thursday at 8.30am to see the nurse to check there's some improvement but I'm to go sooner if my cough or breathing gets worse!!
She thinks its only been a couple of separate infections not 4 or 5!! She didn't seem at all happy i hadn't been given steroids b4 now as i was having 2 lots of antibiotics each time!!
I said do you think they need to look at taking me off of methotrexate coz of my chest but also that on a high dose I'm still getting breakthrough psoriasis!! She said in her opinion YES but its up to my consultants!! I do think she may have a chat with my dermatologist tho coz she started pulling all of my blood results up wen i was leaving!!
I've got chest xray @ 9.45 Wednesday, Mental Health Nurse @ 11.00 & blood tests @ 11.52 ... Shattered thinking about it!! :-/
I'm a bit embarrassed that I used my walker today, 1st time I've ever gone outside with it :-( My hands & wrists are too painful for crutches tho. It helped & I didn't fall so I won't moan very much.Lol
Im going to try & rest now. Thank you for your support.x

Hi Debbie,
Glad you had a positive gp visit, hope that the antibiotics and steroids do their job quickly. Be gentle with yourself and take the time you need to get well.

Antibiotics don't work if you have a viral infection, perhaps this could be the case with you. I have always stopped my meth etc at the first sign of a sore throat because that is what my rheumatology department have always told me to do: I think this is where I went wrong on the Monday before the Easter break, we were due to go and see my mum for the Easter week-end and I knew I would need slightly-improved mobility (i.e. to use my crutches rather than my rollator) so, despite a sore throat I took my humira and then two days later my meth. Stupid girl me because that allowed whatever this is to get a real hold in my system.
I think you are still relatively new to all of this, yes? It takes time to learn what is right for you and what isn't (and even then one can get it wrong.) Last Thursday (after returning to the GP because things had worsened) I spent the day in the assessment unit of my local hospital and they sent me home with steroids and instructions to use my inhalers. As for the walker no-one will have taken a blind bit of notice - people tend to be too wrapped up in their worlds to notice.
I hope the steroids help, they usually do. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
Thanks DD,
I think if I'd seen my usual gp she would've stopped it I think. She didnt look too impressed that i hadn't been told to stop it b4 or that I hadn't been given steroids!!
I'm on 30mg weekly one month & 25mg the next coz of psoriasis breaking thru still, my PsA has been pretty well controlled by 15/20mg so it's my dermatologist, who I see next week that will make any further decisions about it!!
Maybe she'll finally consider a biologic.
I've been diagnosed with OA & PsA for 6 years. I've never been told not to take it if I'm ill just to make sure I have a blood test whilst I'm ill. Weird we've been told such different things :?
Ah, so if you hadn't had a lowered immune system you think you'd have been able to fight this off?? I hope they can clear it up asap so you can visit ure Mum.
I'm gona try for some sleep now, I'll continue to live in hope.Lol
N'night DD, catch you soon & thanks for everythingHealing Hugs

Hope things are getting better, meds can really mess you about! I have a low immune system and try to keep away from people who have bugs, coughs, colds or flu and try to keep doctors appt to as minimum as possible that's why my doctor does phone consultations for me. You take care.0

Hi Debbie
You really are going through it,I am glad you have seen your own GP thats the trouble with having different ones ..
I do hope you get on top of these awful infections very soon ..and good luck with the chest xray... I know how you feel with the walker..I have acquired a wheelchair..I tried a walker but due to my back probs it didnt help much...I still don't use it locally...stupid I know....but I am so pleased I got it for days out and shopping with hubby..
You take care and let us know how you get on xxLove
