I joined in 2011 and then ended up with no computer or Internet until about 3 months ago :) Im back now :)

Had fusion surgery on my left foot in 2011 and due for my right foot fusion on Friday, ahhh!

Anyone know what happens once they weigh you for on your pre op and you put on quite a bit of weight between the pre op and operation, will I wake up in the operation?

Welcome back Sailrib and all the very best for your forthcoming op. Please do not worry that you will wake up during the operation. The anaesthetist will be very aware of your weight as he/she has to know this so as to be able to administer enough anaesthetic for you.

Please dont worry about the weight...they take into account of this for the anesthetic, I do think that many put weight on with being immobile...including me..I am trying my best to get it off slowly but surely..I do wish you well with the op ...and I will be thinking about you on Friday ((((())))xx

    Hi
    Welcome back
As to a anaesthetic they use your weight in Kgs to work out how much anaesthetic will be required
I've never fancied a full anaesthetic and have chosen either local or spinal anaesthetic as recovery is quicker and less pain felt as they give a block to area operated on so it takes longer for the pain to start
I'm on waiting list for further surgery to left foot as had big toe fused last year hoping that would cure the problem it didn't so now need surgery to 2nd 3rd and 4th toes
I'm hoping they say I can have spinal again
My consultant is excellent I used to work on one of his wards and told him I chose him as he is the best so no pressure there I said
    Good luck with your operation
