Diabetes and Arthritis but doing OK

Hi everyone.
I haven't posted in a while, in fact since I was diagnosed with diabetes Type 2 to add to my psoriatic arthritis, and other stuff.
I was feeling really down about the diagnosis, but then decided that self pity was going to get me nowhere, so dusted myself down since then, and I've been making a concerted effort to do something about it.
Well, since the end of January, I have managed to lose over a stone in weight, by changing my diet a bit, (low carb) and have gradually been building up my fitness with very slow, short walks, until I can now walk at a reasonable pace for 25 minutes, and later on in the day, manage 30 minutes on my exercise bike.
It might not be running a marathon, but it's a heck of a sight better than I was managing before.
It hasn't been easy, and I have felt pretty awful some days, where I have had to rely on more painkillers etc than I would normally, but now I do feel I'm getting somewhere with both my weight loss and my fitness.
Some days I do have to cut back a little, as my feet tend to swell up, but I'm feeling so much better in myself, and so far it seems that my blood sugars are lowering somewhat.
I won't be certain of that until I get another blood test at the end of the month, but I'm feeling positive!
I didn't think I would ever be able to go walking with my daughter again, and manage to keep up (she does slow down a bit for me, I admit)
Just thought I should post something a bit more optimistic than my last post on here, and although I know it's always going to be a struggle in some ways, I intend to try and carry on with everything I'm doing.
I'll let you know in another couple of months time....

You have done so well to lose a stone...I always seem to do well on the low carb diet...so you have inspired me to go back on it..

Thanks for the welcome back and the positive thoughts.
Not every day is a good one, but on the whole actually getting my act together and trying to do more to help myself has made a huge difference.0 -
