Hi
I had my physio appointment this morning as have been suffering with my hips, my GP had said I had trochanteric bursitis of hips. Have been waiting a over 8 weeks for this appoointment.
So went today and he was surprised at how much pain I was in, I was also limping as was in the car for a wee while yesterday and my new knee felt swollen. He examined me, tried to get me to do some exercises, leaning back ones and I nearly fell over. I laid on my tummy and he examined my back and down towards the bottom right above my buttocks and near the hip area was really tender when he put pressure on, compared with with when pressure applied at the top. He thinks my hip pain is referred from my back. BUT I don't suffer from a sore back and its only sore from where he applied pressure but I will follow his advice and he thinks it is a spot of weakness in the muscles supporting back and hips...
He also measured my knee bend which is over 100 degrees but I still cannot when laying knee flat on floor and pushing down cannot get it completely straight. He gave me exercises to do for both my knee and back and has said i don't get knee straight in next 6 months it never will be straight. I also said about my inability to negotiate steps and he said he would work on that with me in 2 weeks time. I told him have been doing rehab exercises and he said they are too basic so new ones are updated.
Whilst I'm glad about it not being me hips giving up the ghost bit worrying about me back, kinda knocked me for 6 that one!

Elaine I had that type of bursitis last year, following my new knee.
I did some hydro exercised they helped then physic.
It was caused by leaning onto the good leg all the time.
it went a long time ago.

Elaine I am glad he is going to try and sought your knee out...2 for 1 eh...the back thing is so comlex...you can do damage by limping..but usually when the limp stops the back improves :? .....well that is what they told me.. I had injections for bursitis but never physio..just goes to show how GPs have different views..I do hope the physio helps..xLove

Hi Blueknees
Well I go to hydrotherapy twice a week so don't know how else I can help this apart from follow his exercises..Is this quite common then following a new knee?

Well I had injections in my leg before the operation and they never made an iota of difference...I was limping today as yesterday was in car for a while and am finding that my knee doesn't like that what with me having a manual car!....Can only see what time brings with physio...

Hi Elaine, mine was caused by placing my weight onto the left leg because I could not weight bear on the new knee.
I would think it can happen if you do that whatever your condition.
You may need to concentrate on walking normally and standing to attention if you can.0 -
Hi Blueknees
He didn't give that as a reason why my back is weak yesterday so maybe im different...I have been walking well recently....To be honest I doubt if I have weakness in back?
