I dropped one

I really did, Summer to be precise. My back had been killing me, it was really sore and stiff. I knew I wasn't picking my feet up so should have been concentrating more. My foot failed to step onto the step at the top of the stairs, I went down and as I hit the deck in grand style she flew our of my arms, into the nursery and bounced off her forehead. I felt terrible but a trip to A&E confirmed no damage was done. The nurse even pointed out that spilling her was safer than landing on her on a step edge.
A reality check in the extreme though...I knew the steroid jab wasn't holding things at bay but I was trying very hard to pretend it was. Instead, after another severe conversation with myself I admitted a small victory to arthritis had been conceded. Well two can play that game and with the swift assistance of my rheumy nurse I'm now back on methotrexate, injecting 15mg to start and rising back to 25mg over the next 6 weeks. The Celebrex is back too and has started to help with some of the soreness already. So arthritis, you may have won the battle but the war is back on and I don't do defeat! I do do sore and bruised from the fall and I am sad to stop breast feeding my nearly 6 week olds but I have a stash of milk in the freezer so it's not totally over yet.
On the happy front the girls are strong, healthy babies, both have put on two pounds already, they wriggle lots, eat like horses and seem totally happy in this world. We've graduated from prem clothing to newborn this week. Tegen babbles for Britain and Summer has learned to mimic your movements and can bat at things. They are both getting head control too which made me a bit too excited! It's amazing watching them develop, a real privilege. I decided the beast way to mourn having to go back on the meds and no longer being able to feed them was to do something I couldn't really do whilst I was feeding (I'm a firm believer in hunting out silver linings) so I had a fair quantity of champagne last night, finally wetting their heads rather than watching others do it for me! It was lovely.
Hope everybody is well as can be, I'm thinking of you all and do occasionally get to read posts.

Good to hear that they are doing so well and that no damage has been done. I am pleased you found such a tasty silver lining - how nice! I hope the meds kick in soon so that you can fully enjoy your new life.0

Hi LV. Am glad to know that no damage has beendone to yor beautiful baby and do hope you will be feeling less sore soon. I am sure many of us on here could recount 'mishaps' with our babies. Fortunately, they are tougher than we think. Take care of yourself. It's lovely to hear of your twins progress and I think you are doing so well with them in view of your health problems. Beryl0

Oh dear, these things happen LV but all is well, that is the main thing. Very small humans are far tougher than they look. It's good that you are back on the meds because that will help you; it's not all about the babies, they need you to be as good as possible, yes? DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

I saw the title and thought OH NO!!!!!!!!!!!! Not a baby
I think that an awful lot of Mums drop a baby you know not just those with arthritis so - no harm done and no need to blame yourself accidents happen.
They sound absolutely GORGEOUS and a delight I am so glad you are all enjoying them so much and they are enjoying LIFE
I wasn't able to breast feed long enough either you know - it happens, but I really am glad you are back on your meds and already feeling a bit better
Love

Hello LV
i'm sure your not the first to drop a baby they are tougher than you think.
you are a good mum and you are doing them i'm sure a lot better than some mums you read about who have not got arther.

That's what made me start my meds again too, didn't actually drop him but felt like I might and could barely pick him up, was 9 lb at birth so not surprising really!!
Was def the right choice. I have lots of friends whose bub has been dropped/rolled off something etc etc and they're all still here, no mothers locked up for neglect yet!!
U r doing so well I found 1 hard enough so u must be superwoman managing twins. Xxx0 -
Glad no harm was done. I have to hold my hand up to dropping my baby in the baby bath. And there was no sign of arthur at the time. They sound absolutely delightful. You have breast fed for the first few weeks and they are the most important so well done. I'm sure you will be able to enjoy your babies even more once the meds kick in.Christine0

I like your postings.
They are honest and truthful and I admire the way
you try to find the brighter side of life.
I am a fan0 -
I've lost count on the amount of times I tripped or lost my footing! The majority of time I might stub a toe or just break one (mainly my big toes!) And I don't tell my O.H as he will just wrap me in cotton wool and go mad! But Occasionally like the other week as you have done I will take a tumble and really hurt myself! This is the curse of Arther and we have to roll with it! I hope your bruises clear soon and feel ready to take on the world again.0

Hi LV, it's lovely to hear from you.
It's amazing how babies can bounce, isn't it!
I'm very pleased the twins are doing so well, it's all down to good parenting you know You should be very proud of yourself.
Love to you all,

Hi LV,
Lovely to hear that the little ones are doing so well, from one twin mum to another you're doing an epic job, it's hard work and exhausting even when you don't do daily battle with arthur!!!!
Hope the meds make a huge difference very quickly. Take care of yourself.
Deb x xx-these are for the bundles!0
