Hi Everyone, I am new to this page and wondered if you could give me any advice...
Today I won my employment & support allowence and will be back dated also after year of stress and feeling ill and being messed about.. Last may I was sent to a medical for atos who awarded me no points zilch and told lies on the form and basically was told i can screw a light bulb in no bother amoung other things and my incapcity was stopped and was told the wrong information and sent to the job centre where i had to sign on and all the while my money was santioned as I didn't attend a cv course which was up 3 FLIGHTS OF STAIRS AND A HUGE HILL TO CLIMB AND WHEN I DID GET THERE ( HAD TO WALK A DIFFERENT ROUTE AND WAS LATE AND WAS TURNED AWAY.. my jsa was stopped as I failed to attend.. but today angels have looked down on me and I won my appeal I nearly cried with relief!! but it all seems to complicated to me still... I was due to sign on this friday and be paid on wed but my cit advice advisor said they will be told and ive not to sign he told me lots of other things I don't understand.. how long will it take? when will my money be back dated and what does employment support allowence with the work-related activity component mean?? should i still go into job centre myself and tell them ive won my appeal or trust my cit advisor. Any information would be great i feel happy i won yet so confused... thanks x

well done with your appeal , not many win it with nil points to start with ,
would trust your CAB adviser , think it takes few weeks to sort & if you dont hear anything chase them up , are you in the work related group ? ,0 -
Crystal well done you I am so pleased you have got it after all that you went through...sorry I cant offer any advice...but you can now relax a little...xLove

Crystal I could not be more pleased for you
Like you the DWP gave me a hard time sending me the incorrect forms to fill etc and stopping my Mobility and Carers Allowance because of it
Again like you I had to go through the stress of an appeal and the ATOS and ESA Tribunal which again like you I won I had my allowances returned with the money being back dated for over a year
My advice is any thing you are not sure about that CAB or DWP said to you ask them to explain to you in a letter
As for the back payment as Unsure said the DWP are pretty quick and the money is paid into your bank account
Once again Congratulations and may things continue to go your way
Best wishes to you0 -
Congratulations Crystal and welcome, I am so pleased for you it gives me great satisfaction to hear people who deserve ESA have won there appeals,.
As suggested if there is anything you are not sure of just ring them and ask, there is also a lot of information on the DWP website as someone else said I think they are pretty quick at sorting out your claim and backdating your money.
I am waiting to hear about my appeal so I know what you went through, hope you get everything sorted out soon...............Marie xSmile a while and while you smile
smile another smile and soon there
will be miles and miles of smiles
just because you smiled I wish your
day is full of Smiles0 -
Well, I am so confused. I am on ESA and just received a letter from the Job Centre with an interview for them to discuss me looking for paid work. What are they doing. I am really dreading going.Karen xx0

Well done Crystal!!!
It's good to hear a result like that on here - it gives other people hope thanks for letting us know.
In yours shoes If I was worried I would ring them to check.
Karen? Are you going?? If you need support I am available for pocket duties :?
Love

Hi Karen,
People on ESA will be contacted by Jobcentre Plus when they have been claiming ESA for a period of time (think it's 12 months). This is to assess if you are capable of work and if so to what extent. If you aren't then you would remain on ESA. If you are then you would be given support to find work and could be changed over to JSA (jobseeker's allowance). JSA requirement is that people are available for and actively seeking work and you would have to sign on every two weeks. I have OA and have constant pain and take lots of medication but have managed to continue working for the last 23 years. I understand that not everyone is so lucky in being able to work as they may not b able to physically do the work they have the skills or qualifications for. I would suggest at your interview you are clear about how your condition impacts on your ability to work e.g. if you take high amounts of pain killers for example you may not be allowed to use machinery etc which could prevent you from working. If they discuss you being capable of work and you don't know what work you could do then you should ask for advice on what work they deem you capable of doing. You can then decide if it's reasonable and take it from there.
Please try not to worry too much and my advice is just be honest
Marie

If you are on ESA...WRAG like me you will have interviews at the job center,it is something you have to do.
When I have been I have been asked how I am and then just had a general chat, sometimes you are set small tasks to do, but nothing much, well thats how it was with me.
They can't make you apply for jobs.
I have been put on a course now with A4E.....only been once but it;s for 2 years!!!! Basically the guy I saw said It's got to look like I am getting ready to work, I go again next Friday so will see what happens.
He did say the government want to get rid of benefits as soon as they can!!!
Again they can't make anyone get a job if you have passed your medical or won your appeal, I have till November before the dreaded brown envelope drops through the door :roll:0 -
Sorry Crystal I meant to say well done on wining your appeal0

Congrats on winning your appeal, you shouldn't have had to go through stress and upset to get to here though! I'm not sure how the new payments work so I would telephone the job centre and explain you have won your appeal and your not sure of the next step. I'm sure they will explain it all to you.0
