Hi mpalmer
Welcome to our forums....how kind of you to try to get help for your freind. He or she woudl be very welcome to join us?
You might get a better response posting this on the living with arthritis forum as this one is usually for us to chat non-arthritis stuff, but for now I sugggest your friend can try:
Heat/ice packs and see which helps?
Some of us use tens machines
Pain relief - painkillers I mean from paracetamol upwards in addition to anti-inflammatories ibuprofen etc. Some are available over the countesr some via the GP.
Physio can be useful as can hydrotherapy and gentle exercise liek swimming?
Hope that helps a bit.
