I have been experiencing a rash on my hands lately mainly on my fingers that are like clusters with fluid in them very small like blisters then after few days seem to like scab,is this by any chance related to Methotrexate? or is it something i should talk to my GP about.

    Hi,
I'd go along to my Gp. It may be relivant to your arthritis or it may be compleatly different, but it could become sore and you may need a special cream to get rid of it. Love Suexx

I've never had it from Methotrexate but everyone is different!! I'd discuss it with ure GP in ure shoes.

Until I got to the bit where you said they scab I thought it would've been prickly heat!! The only other blisters I've had on my hands are pustular psoriasis.

Sorry I can't help. I'm sure someone else will be more useful.

    Good luck.x

I get something exactly like this, have you been in direct sunlight in the last day or so? This is what seems to set it off for me.

Sorry don't know anything about the meds as it is OA I have, I really would go and see your doc about the rash, it could be anything, have you tried speaking to your rheumy nurse to see if it's related to the meds, hope you get it sorted out soon....tc.............Marie x

I once got such a rash when taking the NSAID Opren, since discontinued because it gave people, amongst other things, a blistery rash whenever they cam came in contact with sunshine. (And, in my case, for many years later.) I spent one night with my arm in a bowl of cold water, the only thing which calmed the itching.

My guess is that this is sunshine-connected but whether it's also meth-connected I can't say though it might well be if you've been in the sun. I don't think we're supposed to. I always sit in the shade now which is why I come back from California a whiter shade of pale  Maybe you should ring your rheumatology helpline for advice.

Thankyou I'll ring my GP in the morning ,when I say scab I mean it by where they have dried where the fluid has leaked out. It is quite itchy too,I have been in sun a bit lately too.

You say that you have been in the sun - I hope that you have been applying sunscreen on a regular basis including the backs of your hands - the sun isn't selective in what it 'hits'. Hopefully your GP will be able to advise regarding what it is and what to do - I turn to calamine lotion plus an anti-histamine tablet but that's based on experience. Please let us know how you get on. DD

I can't risk getting sunburn as I get psoriasis where ever I burn & I'm on 30mg methotrexate. I sunbathe on holiday without any problems but I do use a 50 factor total block that I'm prescribed for the first few days then lower it gradually!!

For the prickly heat I use a 24 hr acting antihistamine & also piriton every 4-6 hrs ... It drives me NUTS :(

Good luck with ure GP & please let us know how you get on.x

Sounds a bit like dermatitis to me. My friend had something called dyshidrotic dermatitis, I think that's right? She had small, itchy, blister like spots between her fingers. I think the doctor gave her a steroid cream, which soon cleared it up.
Good luck, whatever it is. :D

Don't worry about it, loads of people get it. My friend was told she probably got it through using detergents, yet she's always worn gloves for household chores. I think more women than men get it.
    I hope it's sorted soon.
    Take care,
