Hi
I am back to see the consultant or registrar as my 7month old knee is still giving me quite a few problems...The main ones being that my quad muscles are so weak they dont support me walking up and down stairs, ligament is still not healed...A lot of pain when getting up from seated position, sleeping position etc...I'm off on me own just me and the beany frog Sol!!
Wish me luck

Good luck Elaine, let us know how you get on, and what advice/assistance you get. My second new knee is nearly as old as yours, and I'm starting to get a bit fed up that it isn't progressing as well as the first one did. I'm hoping it is just me being impatient and that it will get there. I've been told over and over that it will keep improving over 12 months, but it hasn't changed much over the last 3 months.0

Good Luck Elaine
When are you going back? Did I miss that? Do you want pocket dwellers

Yet again we are going to Wrightington on the same week, but not the same day!! I am there on Thursday!!
Let us know how you get

I hope the appointment goes well, Elaine. Yours too, NB.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Hi Elaine
Hope all goes well
I'm wondering if its due to your kneeling an your new knee as you know I worked in orthopaedics for nrly 30 yrs. and we have always said don't kneel on your new knee but saying that other hospitals say its ok
I know how good you were doing your exercises so agree with you about your ligaments
Let us know how it goes
Oh I had my foot op last thurs all went well

Hi Chook
I am going to reply generally what I found out today but like to acknowledge everyone personally too....What I got told today should have been told right after my op....

Okay guys here is what happened to me today at Wrightington interesting info!
Today was back at Wrightington 7 months after my total knee replacement. It turns out my complex operation meant that he had to cut the soft tissue at either side (medial and lateral) as one side was tighter and one side was slacker..I also had lots of scar tissue to cut away from my previous OCD operations...This is why my ligamanents and medial side is not healed yet but I do have good bend on it and can kneel!....I am going back for intense physiotherapy on it....Just wish had known about all these deformities immediately post op....It will take some time to correct it but how long that is who knows....? I didn't see the consultant it was the arthroplasty person...To some extent I have explanations but should have been told this right from the off!

Hi Elaine
I am glad you got some answers to you issues, if only a little late in the day!! The Arthroplasty team are fab aren`t they?! I find my nurse really helpful, and has time to talk (although I have never met her in person, only on the phone).
I hope the intensive physio sorts things out for you. It sounds great that your bend is good though
I should have been seeing the Arthroplasty nurse myself this week for my 6 week check, but she is away and I am booked in with the Reg  So not expecting too much from the appointment really!! My consultant is good and easy to talk to so i hope I can see home too.I have booked myself in with my local physio for 1st July, in anticipation that I am told to see one to sort out my limp and bugling lumbar spine/disc issues. If they offer it at Wrightington too i might have both! If I can sort a driver
Take care x

Hi NB
Well I didnt know I had all of these deformities (as she put it today) and that he had to do extra work in my operation...I guess I just like to be kept right up to date with all available information if possible and cant see why they kept this to themselves...The woman was pretty good and didnt just usher me in and out in 5 mins she spent a good 15 mins with me and examined me thoroughly...One thing I had to laugh at she told me not to listen to me dad who keeps saying to me "youv'e had a new knee this is just how it is now"....She said tell him "this is my knee not yours, we are all different" so he is put out now he didn't accompany me as he said he would have told her off ha!
I hope you can get your physion sorted out and the limp work started, it will take a while but you will get there..

Elaine I totally agree why didnt they tell you about the extra that had to be done..and prepair you for having intense Physio ...if only they would communicate with people properly it would make a difference..
At least you now have the answers.. and hopefully the physio will make a big difference...xxLove

Well yes and especially as this came up on the computer screen as being an "operation note" in big bold letters, it should have been disclosed to me as early as possible....Hopefully physio will help but they only seem to do about 4 weeks at my hospital and then say they can do no more discharge you!
