I use an oil which helps to keep my nails strong. I'll PM you the details. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

I get psoriasis of the nails, they pit & ridge badly but my biggest problem is they lift as the psoriasis layers up & I end up with holes near the nail bed, luckily it's never damaged the matrix, or it will lift so much it catches on everything & it hurts like hell :?
As for strengthening ure nails there is some great advice on this site

I have similar problem with my nails, they split right across the skin which is really nasty. I'd love to have lovely long nails but never have chance to grow them as they always break! I don't know how they split I just wake up and notice them!!0

My friend was painting my nails the other day and she actually commented on all the ridges! My nails have been brittle and prone to breaking for ages, which I thought might have been to do with my underactive thyroid - never occurred to me that this might be another symptom of Arther's presence!!0

Im going to give the nail oil a go and hope I can find one that isnt too scented or it will make my excema go nuts0

Good luck with it and I hope it helps - it's very gentle, I even put it on cuts etc to soothe any sting. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

I also have vertical ridges on my finger and toe nails which can split easily. I never get to have matching length nails.
Sometimes it is just nice to know I am not unique.

That's the odd thing, Susiesoo, all of us are the weird mixture of ubiquitousness and uniqueness.
I think that anything one uses will help to strengthen nails as long as the treatment is done regularly - and doesn't stop when things are better. Keeping nails on the shorter side helps too. I stopped my daily regime when my Mum died, my nails 'went' and I have now resumed as of the past fortnight. Already they are looking better. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
I think you are right, DD. I do tend to forget to look after them when they look better. I must try harder!

Hi DD
Will you pm me with this.....I've always had very strong nails but this past few weeks they seem to be crumbling at the tips.....they aren't long so don't know why this has suddenly happened
