Hi, Can I have your opinions on this drug please ? then I will explain my views on it ... The relief GP and myself have disagreed abut this drugs side effects and without prompting I would like to see if anyone else has suffered the same as me.
thank you Carin

I was on it for years. In fact, at the time, I probably tried every anti-inflamm going. The only two that worked well for me for a long time were nap and diclo. In fact, not all diclos did. It had to be voltarol. Nap was OK though.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

    Hi
I have tried both naproxen and diclofenac over the years both didn't like me and after a few doses felt like a volcano erupting in my stomach
Now take a a NSAID that's kinder on my stomach

I was tricked into taking this by my GP as they didn't want to pay for Arcoxia for me any longer as it costs something like 8x the cost. I found it didn't work that good for me and was often giving me an upset stomach. Eventually I got Arcoxia back which is a great alternative as they do not cause stomach problems due to the fact the outside shell of the tablet dissolves in your intestine rather than your stomach.

There's a long list of "contra-indications", not everyone experiences all or any side effects, so you might not get the answers you want from the small sample of people you'll get on the forum!

My doctor insisted on giving me naproxen instead of diclofenac. I find it more likely to upset my stomach than diclofenac. I don't need an anti-inflammatory so often now, but when I do, I find that I don't really notice any immediate effect from taking naproxen, but have noticed the pain is less the next day - so from that I'd say it is very slow to work.

Before my TKR's when I was taking it more regularly I'd find if I took it for more than about 3 or 4 days in a row, I'd have terrible diarrhoea.

Yes I realise there are many side effects just wondering if any one suffered the same as mine.A shot in the dark really.I have read on other forums it is a problem especially as I was on 1000 mg somedays as unable to walk so unable to work efficiently and as I am so dam stubborn I will sit in my office and delegate lol on those days!
My releif GP said Naproxen can cause a risk of heart attack and it was not recommended for continual use in my case.
I am now taking Ibuprofen gel and paracetemol it takes a slight edge of the pain but can not cope with the weight and bloating and the unable to urinate :(

    Hi;
I took naproxen for three years. While it didn't do much for pain, it did help inflammation. My fingers got skinnier and I was more mobile, less stiff. One year in, I switched to a coated version which helped the caustic effect it had on my stomach. I was on a variety of NSAIDS during this time and eventually eventually developed esophagitis and so stopped all.

    Hi
I didn't find Naproxen worked for me at all; it had no effect on pain or inflammation.
Diclofenac worked well but after over 4 years on it, Dr said I'd been on it long enough (although blood tests showed my liver and kidney function was fine).
I am now on Meloxicam which is ok (no side effects to speak of but I am very hungry now) no idea if that's related to Meloxican or just general greed :)
I take a Proton pump inhibitor with them to stop stomach rot, which seems to work ok.
They all have a variety of side effects, which I have fortunately skipped but everyone is different.

    Hi

My Rheumy refuses to prescribe me anything other than ibuprofen for inflammation as she says the others are too high risk of heart attacks & it's not worth risking my life over. I also take omeprazole to help gurds from it's continual use.

I gained 4 st in under 2 years on Pregabalin (to treat fibromyalgia) so I took myself off of it.

    I'm sorry ure having trouble.x

    Hi
Yes I always have omneprozol or lansoprozol {sp not right I'm sure} :D
I was on diclofenic for quite a while and when I changed docs she put me on naproxen. Being the nosey person I am and thinking "well it's my body" I asked why?.....she said all anti inflams could cause heart attacks or heart problems and naproxen was the best of a bad lot.....not quite her words  but you know what I mean.
    I'm on 1000mg a day.....1 at about 9am and one at about 9pm
I find no difference in that and diclo as far as pain relief is concerned
    Love
