Methotrexate - when do you take folic acid?

Hi guys
Just a quick question. Started methotrexate injections last weekend and wondered when everyone took the folic acid.
Do you take it 24hours after or is it just the next day at any point?
I know it can help with side effects so the sooner I can take it the better.

    There are many different instructions given for folic acid and some have to take it daily. I've always taken mine the day after my meth and three days before. I don't think time of day is relevant though, as I take both my meth and F.A. in the morning, there's usually 24 hours between them.

    If you're experiencing nausea it might help to eat foods that are naturally rich in folic acid - lentils, spinach, asparagus, broccoli, kidney beans, avocado and sunflower seeds.
    If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

    Thanks for the advice. I was just told 24hrs after but I wasn't sure if they just meant next day.

    I do my meth injection on Wednesday mornings and take the FA on Friday morning. DD

    I take my methotrexate injections once a week 20mg.
    my roomy doctor told me to take my folic acid 1 day before my methotrexate.

    but it does seem we are all differant in takeing our folic acid.

    Hi Poppy,

    I take mine the day after, in the morning, regardless of what time I have my mtx injection that day before.

    Hi I take 5mg folic acid 3 days after methotrexate but I often see that people take it every day :?

    Hi
    I take folic acid everyday except methotrexate day
    Think it depends on your Rheumy when they want you to take it

    I'm the same as Maria. I take my folic acid 6 days a week avoiding 'methotrexate mondays'

    Hi Poppy I do my methotrexate inj. on Friday and take the Folic Acid Monday morning after several years of this routine I have never had any problems. Hope this info is of use to you. regards catt

    Folic acid every day except MTX injection day. I have very few side effects which I partly credit to the folic acid. I used to only take FA once a week and then it was the day before MTX day. Everyone does it differently, it seems!

    Hi,I too take frolic acid everyday except injection day.Wonder why everyone has different instructions :roll:
