Holiday Of Hell

I have been on holiday here in Skegness for 2 weeks and this is my first week and so far it has been the worst holiday I have ever experienced.I arrived on Saturday.The caravan is really cramped for an 8 Birth and I love caravans but this one has too many cupboards and personal things taking up so much space.I have been experiencing quite a bit of pain maybe due to the walking.Then come Wednesday I came down with a fever and 2 of my kids were being sick .The water in the caravan kept going on and off all day which has got me wondering if the water has anything to do with the sickness as some of us had been drinking the water some of hadn't. And finally to top it all I have been stuck in the caravan as I have come down with a bad case of Tonsillitis and a fever and have hardly been able to eat or sleep.I finally managed to drag myself to see a GP today and am finally on some antibiotics.I hope they work quick so I can at least try to enjoy the rest of my second week as I have spent most of the first week either in pain or in bed.

    Oh dear, am so sorry to hear of your holiday troubles. Hope you will be feeling better soon and that your 2nd week is much more of a success.

    Oh no, that doesn't sound like fun at all, I am so sorry. Holidays are no guarantee that bugs won't happen but you do seem to have found a less-than-good-place to stay. I hope the site staff can explain what's going on with the water, meanwhile get some anti-bacterial wipes and hand gel for all to use to help keep the bugs at bay. DD
    Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

    I would endorse all that DD has written and add that no way would I be drinking that tap water. Buy bottled or, at the very least, boil all you drink or brush your teeth with. I do hope the antibios help and quickly.
    If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

    Aww shandy what a rotten shame...I know how much you was looking forward to it.
    Like you I love caravan holidays...such a shame it was small....when we were kids and I carried it on.. my mum made us boil the kettle then throw the water away then we would boil more and let it cool for drinking...but in day and age the water should be safe.
    I do hope you feel better soon and the children come to that....could you get on to the site about this..at least it might make you feel better giving them what for... :x xx
    Love

    I've got to agree with SW and DD I would most certainly not drink the water and definately use bottled to clean teeth.
    I'm so sorry your holiday is turning into a nightmare. I'd take pictures of the small accomadation as well and put in a complaint before you leave.Follow this up when you get back home. I too hope you feel a little better for your second week.

    Thankyou all and don't worry I won't be drinking it again I'm used to using bottled water when I have had my holidays on Spain but didn't think it was needed here but I certainly will know in future.

    Hope you have a better second week Shandy, what a shame for your holiday to be ruined by ill health and not just yours but some of the rest of the family. Try and enjoy the rest of the holiday.

    Hi Shandy
    I hope you have a more enjoyable 2nd week. I just got back tonight from a caravan holiday but it was our caravan and we towed it. At least I knew what size it was......2 berth :roll:
    I wouldn't drink the water {like everyone else says}

    My problem is I can hardly move after a week in a tourer where the beds aren't particularly comportable {for someone with arthritis}

    Hope you feel better and enjoy the 2nd week

    Love
    Hileena
