I have had RA since i was 25, have tried all the DMARDs, currently on 20mg of Methotrexate, which has worked for 5 years but over past 6 months my RA has become very active again so am looking at starting on the biological treatment.

Am a bit scared/confused about it all so would be grateful for any advice or experience people have had. :?

Thanks

    Hi
I had my second dose of cimzia last Tuesday and its been the most amazing experiance. I had my first child at 30 and went rapidly downhill after that. They put me on cimzia 4 weeks ago and I feel so much better. The only downside is no more kids as I don't want to go back to where I was before. Also you have to think ahead with the injections ie storage etc when going away/out.
If you wanna chat pm me.
Hope you get the right biological treatment for you.
    Gxx

Hello, I'm on my third anti TNF, it is helping though not to the extent I would like simply because it is too little too late. Those for whom these drugs are doing what they should rarely post, let's hope you are able to join that elite. :)

I never have any hesitation in starting new meds, they are meant to help matters and if they do then that is all to the good. We are closely monitored when on these drugs and the reason for that is to pick up any troubles before they become entrenched. What counts is the quality of life now, not the potential for future risks which might happen anyway. I wish you well. DD

    Hi Suzilou
I have been self injecting Enbrel twice weekly along with Methotrexate injections plus NSIADS and Co-Codamol tabs for the past few years. The RA that I have suffered for 38yrs is now well under control.
I would recommend this biological treatment to any RA sufferer as I experienced dramatic relief from pain and stiffnes after only a few weeks of starting the treatment.
My supply of injections is delivered to me every month as arranged by the hospital and I am monitored (blood tests etc) by my local GP every month.
    I hope this information helps.
Best wishes and good luck catt :)
