Preliminary findings and MRI

Well, I had my MRI on Saturday - my God did it hurt to lie there for half an hour! Because my hip is bad, the position she put me in meant that my leg was dead straight which hurts my hip, so as the MRI progresses the pain in my hip and groin got worse and worse. By the time it finished my leg had gone into spasm and I was starting to get claustrophobic, couldn't breathe properly etc etc. Anyway, I stuck it out and the results should be with my rheumatologist in about a week. My follow up isn't until November however- will I be bale to ring the dept and ask for the results sooner do you think? 2 and a half months is a long time to wait.
On the same day I got a letter from the hospital to the doctor as I am copied in...it said there are signs of osteoarthritis, prolapsed disc at L5 and early heberdens node, with tenderness in distal joints (hands and feet). She said that my movements are restricted in my back due to pain...despite me telling her my back physically wouldn't bend and it wasn;t just the pain making me stop. Also she said there is no sign of psoriasis when I tried at the apt to show her my foot which is in a right old state.

Anyway, I'm glad that's over, just have to wait for the results now.

x

MRIs are always uncomfy, I remember two nurses having to squash my very swollen left knee into position. Ouch!

I doubt that you will be told the results over the 'phone, I preferred to wait until I saw the rhuematologist so that I could ask any questions with the details up on the screen, that made more sense to me. Anyhoo, I was never too sure what I was looking at anyway! This is another step taken towards finding out what is going on and that has to be a good thing. DD

Well done for sticking it out with the MRI. It will be worth it to get the info it gives.

Personally, I never chase things up. I always presume I'll be told if there's anything urgent such as a change of meds required.

As DD says, you're a stage further on and that's good.

Well done you ...when I had my second one this was longer than the first.. I very nearly pushed the button...
When you get the results mine were ready after a week they can be quite complex to read...they do go into detail...
Please let us know when you get them, and I hope you get some answers x
    Love

Well done for getting through it. Don't think I could lie for half an hour. If you got the results now, would you understand them if they go in to detail? You'll probably have questions to ask when you see your rheumie. I don't think they are allowed to give results over the phone.

Well done Ouch for getting through the M.R.I, it's just the wait for the report now! Why does it take so long for a report to be done?! They would call you in sooner if they where not happy with something I would have thought.
