A little wiered I know. I've had a few problems this year. I was having discomfort lower abdomen area and dr took bloods which came back abnormal with a raised CA125 reading. After gynae visits/scans etc - although I have an enlarged uterus - apparently it's due to the RA - must admit I'm a bit worried that the CA125 reading is still high!! Anyone else experienced this??

    Hi,

I'm afraid I had to look up wot CA 125 was as I didn't have a clue!!

It seems the blood test is for a tumour marker but it doesn't necessarily mean that any cancer is present!!

If ure still concerned after all of the investigations have been completed I'd personally go back & air my worries with my GP!! Uve obviously had a fright & they haven't managed to calm ure fears so they need to explain it all more completely & in a better way!!

I'm really pleased the investigations found nothing. Take care. (((hugs))) xx

I've never heard of CA 125 either. Or that RA could cause the uterus to enlarge. Something else to look forward to I guess  I agree with Debbie. If you're still unsure or worried about it all you need to discuss it with a doc.

Learning something new every day on this forum, a quick google does clarify that this marker is also present in a lot of benign conditions, so please try not to worry. As others have said, have a chat with your gp or rheumatologist x

There is a group of meds for auto-immune arthrtises called anti TNFs. The TNF bit means tumour necrosing factor: the word tumour in 'doc speak' is used to describe a variety of alterations in the body. DD

Thank u all for getting back to me! I should have said that I knew what a CA125 test was and have had a couple of discussions. Although I should have been given my results by gynae consultant I happened to have an appointment with my rheumatologist who gave me the results explaining this needed to be investigated further. Saw gynae - he diagnosed RA but back with rheumatologist in September so will be asking the question if enlargement is caused by RA.

Thank u for your hugs and well wishes - I'm okay about things really - just always seems to be the RA when anything significant appears to happen with body!!!! Annoying. Never mind!!

Next blood test in 3 months I should get a trend of activity levels then :P
