Good afternoon everyone - hope you are all OK
Can anyone suggest a comfortable walking shoe for this weather. I am suffering with my feet being sore underneath and also aching ankles. I have some Ho....lace ups but these are too hot and I have Clk sandles but both make my feet ache. I feel I need a thicker sole but as yet have not found comfy ones. I walk almost everyday for around 2 miles and apart from my ankles and feet at the moment, believe it helps all round.
Any suggestions would be helpful. I have thought of insoles but not sure which to try. Any ideas ?

A good set of trainers is the best for me.

If you are walking 2 miles as a single walk, you could try breaking this up into shorter walks. I have this problem too and found it really difficult to give up walking but I am just too sore, hips, ankles, feet :( Now I do four short walks (well, very short) and it's not very satisfying. The health effects of shorter walks are the same as one long one though, and you may be less painful putting your feet up in between.

    Good luck,
    Anna

Thanks for a quick reply Anna. I must admit I was thinking of getting trainers as they seem to be the only ones with a thick sole. Looks like I will have to go shopping and try shortening my walks. Thanks again

If you don't also have extremely wide fit (greater than E), then I'd also recommend sports shoes - nowadays you can also get extremely supportive sandals designed for walking and running (!) as well as lightweight trainers that will help in the heat. If you go for trainers, try to find some waterproof ones (goretex maybe) then you can wear them all year round. As you have aching ankles, it might be worth going to one of the sports shops that do walking tests to help you find the right shoe for you.

Good luck, it's bad enough we have joint and mobility etc problems without footwear giving us extra grief!

    Hi Valde,

Well done for the long walks-makes me feel a might guilty and a might jealous all at the same time  .
Hubby and I enjoy a stroll in the fresh air and I find that a pair of light weight walking shoes from an outdoor type shop a good option-enough support but not too hot-I have sandal type for summer and shoe style ones for the autumn-mostly chicken out in winter!!!!!

    Good luck with the search.

Hi Valde, I don't know if any of you know but I test and review new items for Boots, they send me a product (Which I get to keep!) and I test it out for upto a month and then do a review. A couple of weeks ago I was sent ' Boots Pharmaceuticals Knee Arthritis Orthotic' It a pair of insoles you put in your shoes and they are suppose to realign feet and knee's. Here's the link so you can take a look. Hope it might help.
