I know I don't write on here very often, because most of the time I feel so depressed and i would land up with the nick name of moaning minnie!!
I am not dealing very well with the fact of not being able to get on with life like it was before Aurther popped up. Its been three years now that I have had to try to adapt to Aurthers way of living and that seems like a lifetime.
Last week I had a good sort out of shoes and boots that I know I will never wear again ( very heartbreaking). The good side was my daughter has bought me a lovely pair of flat boots that I picked and she has taken my old ones that i had worn once.
This weekend made me realise that I have to get my hip sorted out. Im in pain all the time and have learnt to live with it but Aurther played up so much, I cant put weight on my leg and not able to get comfortable in bed.
My GP rang me today and I have an appointment this Friday to get the ball rolling. Im scared of having it done!!

    Hi Elsa
So sorry to hear things have been so difficult for you over the past few years. I'm afraid I don't have any experience to share, just wanted to send hugs your way and I'm sure someone will be along soon to help put your mind at ease x

Don't let depression put you off posting, Elsa. That's when yo need company and empathy most of all.

I hope the GP visit will result in an orthopaedic appointment and a THR. If so remember the exercises before and after to ensure it works well. And don't be nervous. I have two and I've had no problems with them.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

    Hello Elsa

I had a right THR in December 2010 and it was the best thing I could have done to relieve my pain. You obviously have to take care afterwards, do the exercises and go for short walks to strengthen the muscles and, very importantly, listen to your body so you don't over do things during the first few months. If I should ever need to have the left one replaced, then I wouldn't hesitate.

    Good luck and best wishes.

    Thanks for your replies,
Its good to know I'm not alone.
I am definately going through with the THR as much as it scares me.
My neice took me away to Turkey a few weeks ago for total rest, and it was lovely. She has already booked up for next year in July for both of us again. Just hope I can do it now depending on how long the waiting list is and wether travelling will be possible.
I work from home so I never see anyone from day to day and that is very boring, even a trip to see the GP is a highlight of my day and even sadder the dentist (mind you he is lovely).

There are quite a few people who only post to moan, you wouldn't be alone in that and that is why the forum is here. We all know how grindingly tiring life is when one is coping with ongoing pain and discomfort, how limited we can allow life to become and how isolated we could feel. We can't keep moaning to our families so here is the place to do so. It's a valuable release and we're lucky it's here.

Although the prospect of surgery is daunting it possibly has one excellent outcome - a far better quality of life. Travelling with a new joint or joints has to be far better than travelling with the original rubbish ones. I have thirty nine of those and have recently stopped work because I could no longer cope with it but once I get my new knees (only another eighteen months or so to go) I hope that I will be able to start up again. I began my little business in 1995, just two years before the arthritis began and I reckon I've battled on long enough.

We do know what it's like so don't hide yourself away, OK? DD

    Hi elsa56;

I hope you will post more often :) . Even though I am somewhat embarrassed by my own rants & extended posts, I have to admit I do feel better and less isolated since I found the forum. Like you, often the highlight of my day is my trip to the GP! It can be a very lonely time, this life with arthritis.

I hope you will post back and I'm sure you will receive lots of support to help you through your upcoming (hopefully soon) THR. I have hip pain too, no fun whatsoever :(

    take care,
    Anna

    Hi Elsa
One of the things most of us have found out is that it is better to moan on the forum to us than to our family......no matter how supportive they are they don't really understand. I have the most supportive husband but it helps to come on here and ask questions, and have a bit of a moan and also to answer others questions if I can
    So keep posting

    Love

Ok I will keep moaning as it does help. It will give my poor hubby a rest from it.
I dwell on the past when I get down and then I get bitchy towards the family. I know its not their fault I am having thse problems but half the time they don't listen.
Well on a good note today The sun is shining and on a bad note today is the only part of my body that doesn't hurt is my left leg.
Thats my moan done for the day. 8)
    Love Elsa

    Hi Elsa
This is the only place I moan on as no one no matter how caring in my family understand what it's like
I have a good friend I worked with for 27 years who has her own health problems so we bounce off each other but this site and the guys on here have helped me more than they could know
So keep on posting we are all with you

    Hi there

Don't feel that you would bring us all down because you feel so depressed. We all do it, have a good rant, and it does make you feel better for doing it because all the lovely replies you receive.

I had my THR done over 2 years ago now. And I remember coming on here for the first time and everyone was helpful and kind. I have learnt a lot through this forum and the people on it.

You get the ball rolling with your gp. It will be the best thing you will have done. It does give you your life back, or least a lot more than you are having now.

Keep us informed and don't forget we are all in the same boat at the end of the day. And we all feel the depression and despair. But as I said, to put in in words on here and to receive such lovely replies. It really does help.

    Hi
Well been to see Gp today and he has filled out the forms for referal.
He said I had scored enough points to have it done.
Firstly I have to have another xray done in the next 2 weeks and then I have a provisional appointment booked for 2nd October to see the specialist. He reckons the waiting list is about 6 months.
Has anyone on here had the op done in Milton Keynes?
My appointment to see the speacialist is at the Saxon Clinic but I don't know if the op is done there as well.
Heart beats going mad just thinking about
No moans today for a change.
Wishing you all a good day
    Elsa

That sounds good, Elsa. I'm afraid I've no experience of that part of the country but you're on your way :) Woo hoo :D Now, start doing those quads and get your muscles strong. It'll be worth it in the end.
