Mtx injections

Am I right in saying that mtx in injection form means you can have a glass or two of wine as it bypasses the stomach?

Or is that just a cruel myth?

    It's the same drug whether injected or swallowed but it is worth remembering that the injected form is more concentrated. If you couldn't tolerate alcohol when taking the tablets then the likelihood is that the same will apply. Everyone is different in what they can or cannot tolerate so ensure that you have regular bloods.

    Mtx can cause cirrhosis of the liver and one reason for monthly blood test even without drinking & if your ALT is raised they will stop MTX before it does the damage

    you dont have to be tea total on MTX but its the same drug as tablets so be careful & dont drink much , raised folic acid will help those with raised ALT & bring it back to normal but everyone is different so be careful
