New hip pain..

Hi, I am new here, because I am looking for help. I have just come out of a broken leg injury and recently I have been experiencing pain at the top of my left leg near the buttock area after sitting for a while. I normally exercise a lot, but the broken leg made me lose momentum naturally and it is now getting to a point where it is beginning to restrict and frankly worry me.. could this be osteo arthritis? I am male, 55, non-smoker, good diet and generally physically fit, because I do regular push and pull-ups.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
To your health,
Jack

Hello, it's nice to meet you and I hope we can help. OA can result after trauma to a joint and it could be that your broken leg and the restricted movement thereafter was putting an added stress onto your hip. Is the affected hip on the same side as the broken leg or not? When did the break happen, how long were you in plaster and are you having physio to help regain the strength in your muscles? I know you know all this but we don't! Neither are we doctors so cannot diagnose but we can relate to the trouble you are experiencing. I have OA in both ankles, both knees and my right hip but I know why mine is there - it's thanks to my other arthritis. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi
Welcome to the forum
We aren't docs so cant diagnose but it does sound like a job for your GP or hospital {if you are still in touch with them} and see what they say.
I've got osteo arthritis in lots of places but in my ankle its because of a car reversing over it and driving over it again. So it could be osteo. See your GP and if you get no help ask for a referral to the hospital
Hope someone else can help.
Or don't forget the helpline....you'll find it at the top of the main page...ring them and see what they say
Love

Hello Jack and welcome from me
Like the others have said we cant diagnose what is wrong, but if I was you I would be asking for xrays of your hip..its possible when you broke your leg you did some nerve damage...I have OA in my hips and a few other places , they also say that hip pain can be referred from the back..so you go back to your GP and see if they will refer you to a consultant..good Luck and let us know how you get on.Love
