Rhumatology appointment yesterday

Hi everyone, Well I had a very productive appointment with my Rhummey Consultant yesterday. It was the 1st time he had ever since me with a flare-up so he was pretty shocked at the state of me!! I looked like the mitchlin man I was so swollen up!! He did the full body prod about (which left me sore) and kept saying 'oh my' and sucking under his breath. He then looked at my blood results for the last six months and said 'your inflammatory markers have been very high, how have you got on with the Hydrochloraquine tablets?' Which I told him for the 1st four months there was a slight difference but after then they didn't do nothing. So he has increased the hydro tablets from 5 to 7 days a week and if that doesn't help after a month or so he is going to put me on Sulfasalazine 500mg. So will have to see how it goes. But I'm pleased he saw me with a bad flare up so he could see how bad I am. A very good appt!

Sorry you've been in so much pain, but pleased that the rheumy saw it and can understand now. Hope the meds help- maybe worth a call to the rheumy line in a few weeks if no improvement so that they might expidite the add ins?
