I don't think you will be the one making the choice, Mike; you can always ask but be prepared to be turned down. Your rheumatologist will take a good look at the over-all picture and he or she will make the decision. I was put onto them because the DMARDs were not having a significant effect on my inflammation levels, the first two weren't much cop on that front but the third one has done the trick, albeit it too late for any true benefit to be felt. I agree with DD, Mike. I don't think it will be your choice. The consultants usually decide these matters. If your disease is under control I doubt the biologics will be offered. However, if your rheumatologist thinks you need them don't worry about cost. That's the great thing about the NHS. We should never take it for granted but it's wonderful to have it when we really need it.

    Hi Mike

I hope all goes well at the rheumy's

If asked I would be of the opinion that, (for me), I would want to stay on the least possible meds for as long as possible so that I have something up my sleeve for the future.

Unless of course it was absolutely necessary. Then I would try whatever I was advised.

    Love

When is it you go Mike?

I didn't mean necessarily to lower your dosage - rather to keep the biologics up your sleeve incase the DMARDs don't work in future.

It's good that you are thinking about it ready for your appointment with the rheumy. He/she is the expert and together you can decide what's next.

    Take care

    hi all
yes frogmorton i go in a few weeks time, i like your idea
that if stable at moment whats the point of and not knowing if bios will
    be any better :?:
after all i do feal better than i was i think it changed when i started taking
    injections,from tabs.
but i do want to drop steroid dosage down daily, and i want to drop
    lefiunmide down daily..
i think numptynora ill try and keep bios in reserve ,my body does feel somewhat better than it was(well most of the time) :?
thanks for that mike26  :?
